Job summary:

Required Qualification:

• A valid Driving Permit minimum class C
• 05 years accident free proven experience with a reputable organization
• A copy of a Certificate of good conduct is required.
Age limit: 30-45 years

Duties and Responsibilities
• Ensuring that the vehicle is kept clean and tidy
• Driving the vehicle as required, ensuring the safety of its passengers and contents
• Monthly and periodic reports on vehicle status made
• Complying with traffic regulations and procedures
• Keeping and having safe custody of the of vehicle documents
• Ensuring that the vehicle is fuelled at all times, have correct levels of lubricants and that tyres have the recommend pressure level
• Should be conversant with filling and use of logbooks
• Carrying out any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor

Principal Legal Counsel - UGANDA WILDLIFE AUTHORITY

Job Title: Principal Legal Counsel
Location: UWA headquarters
Reports to: Director Legal and Corporate Affairs
Supervises: Legal Counsel
Salary scale: UWA 04(a)
Contract duration: Four (4) years (renewable)

Main Purpose of the Job:
To provide and coordinate legal services for and offer guidance to UWA in line with the Uganda Wildlife Act Cap 200 of 2000, UWA Mission and other relevant Laws.

Key Result Areas:
• Prepare pleadings and appear in court on behalf of UWA in line with established, laws, and procedures.
• Prepare agenda, minutes and notices of the UWA Board of Trustees in line with existing law and procedures manual as may be delegated.
• Coordinate and monitor the activities of the various partners ensuring compliance with approved laws and Memorandum of
• Understanding (M.O.Us) in line with UWA mission and strategic plan, relevant laws and agreements
• Spearhead the development of M.O.U's agreements and other legal documents/instruments in line with Uganda Wildlife Act and other applicable laws and policies.


Key Competencies/Skills:
• Good knowledge of the principals and practice of company law, development or environmental law, and the procedure guide to public sector
• Ability to interpret and apply applicable laws
• Skills in drafting legal documents.
• Knowledge of the Uganda wildlife act cap 200 of 2000 and other relevant laws
Academic and Professional Qualifications:
• A good degree of bachelor of laws from a recognized university with a bias in environmental law and or commercial law or company law.
• A masters degree in the field of law is an added advantage
• A postgraduate diploma in legal practice from the law development centre (LDC) and a valid practicing certificate is a must.
• Must be registered with the Uganda law society.
• Computer literate - ms-office, excel, e-mail, internet (necessary requirement)

Working Experience
• Must be a practicing advocate for a minimum of 05years and 03 years at a senior level in a prominent and busy public or law firm

UGANDA WILDLIFE AUTHORITY (UWA) JOBS - Assistant Warden Oil Monitoring

Job Title: Assistant Warden Oil Monitoring
Location: Field Based
Reports: Conservation Area Manager

Specific tasks:
1. To study, participate and review Environmental Impact statements and raise issues of concerns that the statements do not adequately address.
2. Study and evaluate environmental audit reports for oil companies operating within wildlife protected area
3. Monitor and evaluate on a daily basis the compliance of the oil companies in line with NEMA approved conditions, UWA guidelines for oil exploration the Environmental Management Plan, petroleum exploration and production department(PEPD) , geological survey and mines department (GSMD) among others, for Restoration and decommissioning Plans
4. Identify and investigate any other unanticipated concerns or negative impacts that might emerge.
5. Developing regulations to guide oil developments within wildlife protected areas.
6. Participate in the national programs to develop tools (e.g. Sensitivity atlas, Strategic Environment Assessment) for environmental management
7. Advise on strategies to address potential and emerging environmental issues and challenges on wildlife protected areas.
8. Contribute to national debates and engagements on oil development and conservation and propose improvement to the policies and guidelines regarding petroleum and mining operations in protected areas.
9. Participate in the preparation of quarterly and annual plans, budgets and reports for UWA Planning Unit.
10. Attend scheduled meeting, seminars and workshops related to petroleum and oil activities or any other.
11. Any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor

Academic and professional qualifications:

A bachelor's (Hon's) Degree in petroleum Geology or Geology or Geology with Chemistry. Knowledge of petroleum operations, knowledge of depositional environments in a rift valley setting in aspects of structural geology and sedimentlogy is required. Advanced degree in Environmental management or Wildlife management, Certificate in Environmental Impact Assessment and or Environmental Audit Knowledge and understanding of Protected Areas and oil related issues is an added advantage
Working experience: 02 years and above experience in the related field

Overall Purpose:

Duties and Responsibilities:

Overall Purpose:
To transport staff members to designated locations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Undertake routine and preventive maintenance of motor vehicle by checking and topping-up the level of petrol, oil, water, battery electrodes and tyre pressure before operating the vehicle,
• Regularly clean and polish the vehicle, change tyres as well as making minor repairs or adjustments,
• Drive motor vehicle (car and van) to transport directors, staff, clients and others to designated locations in buying goods, supplies and consumer items,
• Load and offload baggage, goods and other material supplies with due regard to the safety of other people.
• Maintain records of the motor vehicle's daily activity showing journey, mileage, petrol, oil and signature of authorizing officer to account for all the journeys made.
• Regulate the radio, heat, light, and ventilation system for passenger comfort.
• Observe traffic and safety precautions in order to prevent accidents and to avoid traffic violations, in addition, undertake first aid in case of injuries.
• Report motor vehicle accident to the traffic police and the Maintenance Officer, obtaining police regulations.
• Requisition for petrol, lubricants and spare parts and maintain a record account for the same. • Take the motor vehicle for major service or repairs in accordance to planned preventive maintenance schedule or insurance accident report.
• Assist in performing miscellaneous tasks such as photocopying documents and cleaning the compound when not driving.


Minimum Qualifications:
• Driving Permit without any endorsements
• Uganda Certificate of Education ("0" Level) with a pass in English Language

• Ability to meet time schedules and deadlines and complete tasks without jeopardizing safety or integrity of work.
• Ability to operate vehicles at night and at times in reduced visibility from heavy and blowing rain.
• Ability to maneuver vehicle in tight spaces, judging distance in congested and confined positions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepare maintain laboratory materials, equipment, facilities and work area in a clean condition
• Set-up, adjust, calibrate, clean, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory and field equipments.
• Receive and prepare laboratory samples for analysis, following proper protocols in order to ensure effective storage, handling, and disposal of samples and specimens such as solutions, soils and plants for isolation, analysis and labeling
• Measure or weigh compounds and solutions for use in testing as well as preserving, isolating and analyzing samples and specimens as directed
• Process samples and amplification of DNA, prepare culture media, centrifuge as well as grinding, drying, packaging, weighing, incubation, sterilization, digesting and extraction
• Conduct standardized biological, microbiological and biochemical tests and laboratory analyses to evaluate the quantity or quality of physical or chemical substances in plants and other products. Examine specimens to detect the presence of disease or other problems through observation, examination, identification, isolation and purification of samples
• Feed laboratory animals and insects
• Conduct pathogenecity test, re-isolation for multiplication and inoculums preparation
• Conduct incidence and severity assessments and participate in the screening of materials for disease damage and pest resistance
• Monitor and observe experiments, recording production and test data for evaluation
• Provide input on the development of the annual budget, especially item and cost specifications
• Provide input in the design and construction of facilities for undertaking experiments • Undertake routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and facilities including installation and calibration

• Disposal of waste products in accordance with safety regulations
