Reports to: Senior Environment Officer Assessment, Inspection, Monitoring and Evaluation

Purpose: To assist the Senior Environment Officer in Inspection, Monitoring, Evaluation and Enforcement to ensure compliance with the policies, laws and regulations as well as evaluate implementation of programs and strategies of government related to environment management.

Job Purpose

To co-ordinate and support the installation of a new Enterprise Resource System (ERP) (Navision 13), at Medical Research Council. The ERP will electronically control the finance, HR, purchasing, stores, administrative and other integrated business critical systems on which the organisation depends to function effectively

Roles & Responsibilities

    • Assist in designing the elements of the project plan for project implementation and monitor completion of tasks.
    • Conduct quality acceptance activities in accordance with the project approach.

    • Recommend solutions to the Operations Director and UK project manager in respect of testing, process or design issues, documenting any issues, problems, including conflicts, interferences and errors/omissions.

Oversee and coordinate wetland management activities in specific regions of assignment;

Establish and maintain a strong working mechanism with the Water Management Zone and any other inter-district institutional arrangement within the region, Conduct regular ecological monitoring of Ramsar sites within the region.

Prepare individual monthly and quarterly reports and work plans, fill individual appraisal forms;

Carry out any other duties assigned by the Principal Wetlands Officer-Policy and District Support.

An Honors degree in Wetland or Natural Resource Management from a recognized institution. A post graduate training in Natural Resources Planning and Management; and knowledge or experience in community/rural development is an advantage;

Served as a Wetlands Officer or an equivalent position within or outside the government service for at least three years and have acquired sufficient and reasonable experience to shoulder higher responsibilities;

Demonstrated ability, initiative and competence in directing, organizing and executing work entrusted at this level.

Thirty (30) years of age and above.

    • Liaising with the freight forwarding and clearing agent companies on deliveries, and clearance of goods through the air and land ports, ensuring goods are received as per the bill of lading and rejecting any damaged goods. Provide support for the external and internal Audits conducted.

Education, Skills and Experience needed

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Business Administration.
    • Full/Part Professional Accountant qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA)
    • Three years’ experience in a busy accounts office with direct supervision of accounts personnel.
    • Experience in an international donor funded organisation.
    • Experience working with ERP packages, excellent excels; MS Office programs, office equipment.
    • Good people management skills.
