Job Title: SENIOR ACCOUNTANT – LIFE

Responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyse financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures

Key Responsibilities

    Primary responsibility is to prepare financial statements and supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule
    Supervise the input of financial data and reports for the for the company automated financial systems
    Facilitate and complete monthly close procedures
    Analyze revenues, commissions and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis
    Prepare monthly account reconciliations
    Prepare and review budget, revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices and other accounting transactions
    Assist with analyzing financial statements on a monthly basis and report on variances
    Ensure custody of all financial documents
    Monitor and review accounting and system related reports for accuracy and completeness
    Work with both internal and external auditors during financial and operational audits
    Prepare tax returns and corporate reporting requirements as may be required.
    Assist with quarterly producer commission reports; analyzing and correcting discrepancies
    Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls

Job Specifications

Knowledge:

    Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting or Finance

    CPA qualification or equivalent

Skills:

    Communication skills

    Analytical skills
    Computer literacy

Experience

5 years relevant experience.

The position holder will develop, implement, manage , maintain and evaluate the Company’s Information Technology Systems and resources in line with the company’s objectives

Key Responsibilities will include;

    Formulate, implement and monitor all IT policies, standards and procedures of the Company.
    Identify the company’s short term as well as long term computerisation needs in liaison with management and users.

    Ensure that all scheduled preventive maintenance of equipment is done.
    Ensure that an inventory of all computing equipment, software and documentation are properly maintained.
    Manage staff in the MIS department and carry out staff appraisals, counselling and mentoring
    Perform any other duties as may be requested by management.
