Job title: Programme Officer – Water and Sanitation Engineering
Location: Uganda, Kampala and frequent travels upcountry.
WaterAid in Uganda is looking for a dynamic and innovative Programme Officer - Water and Sanitation Engineering. You will contribute towards the provision of sustainable and equitable safe water and adequate sanitation to the poor through the development and provision of technical support in water supply hardware together with delivery of innovative sanitary designs and their promotion. You will work with national and local government levels, private sector and NGO’s.
You will be knowledgeable and an expert in Water Engineering and Sanitation issues with a degree in water engineering or any relevant qualification with a minimum of 4 years work experience in the WASH sector. You will have extensive knowledge of project development tools, innovation and appropriate WASH techniques and understanding the principles of sustainable development. Your experience of participatory Project Cycle Management including proposal development and M&E will be an added advantage. You must also have great people management, analytical and strategic thinking skills. Commitment to equity and pro poor solutions. Fluency in English is essential and good working knowledge of a local language is desirable. The successful candidate is expected to frequently travel upcountry and within the East African region.
