Natural resources Officer Job Vacancy in Uganda- The Global Conservation Organization

Job Title: Natural resources Officer
Overall responsibility: Reporting to the Project Manager, the Natural Resources Officer will take lead in the implementation of community forestry and other community level activities. He/she will coordinate environmental planning processes in selected sub- counties bordering RMNP and will also liaise with UWA to implement problem animal control and in-park resource use with the local community.

The successful candidate shall:
Coordinate with UWA to identify priority sites inside the park for in-park resource use;
Work with UWA and communities to develop and monitor in-park resource use;
Coordinate the training of UWA staff in in-park resource inventory techniques;
Work with local governments and communities on implementation of priority activities from environmental planning;
Liaise with local Government extension staff to plan and identify sites for implementation of community forestry;
Work with UWA and communities on testing and monitoring problem -animal control measures.
Education: The position requires a University degree in Socio-economics, environment and/or natural
Experience: minimum of five years experience from community work. Experience working with local governments and the community is an added advantage.
Skills and ability: proven ability to utilize community techniques like Participatory Rural Appraisal and formulating community environment training programme is essential. Work requires great flexibility and variety of tasks in dealing with the needs of the community.
