Various Job at National Council for Higher Education

The following positions are available at the National Council for 'Higher Education as from April 2011. Interested persons are called upon to apply in writing to the Council. All the positions are for a three-year contract, renewal on good performance and mutual agreement.
(a) Quality Assurance (Law or Humanities)
(b) Quality Assurance (Basic or Health Sciences)

The duties of these officers will include the following;
i) Participating in the accreditation of higher education institutions and programmes
ii) Helping in developing and refining a national quality assurance mechanism for higher education,
iii) Directing and carrying out research and designing development strategies relevant to higher education and national priorities.
iv) Assisting in improving an acceptable code of quality assurance framework for higher education.
v) Assisting in improving a higher education credit system to ease mobility and transfer of students amongst disciplines and institutions of higher learning.
vi) Designing strategic plans for the higher education sub-sector,
vii) Assisting institutions of higher learning in designing and implementing curriculum, quality assurance mechanisms and the improvement of the higher education sub-sector,
viii) Advising NCHE in accreditation legal matters
ix) Taking leadership in the development of an integrated, diversified and flexible higher education system for Uganda,
x) Performing any other duties assigned by the Executive Director.

Job requirement

Qualifications:
i) A minimum of a Masters degree in Law or Humanities for the initial position.
ii) A masters in Basic or Health Sciences for the second position. A PhD wills be an added advantage.
ii) A working experience at university or tertiary institution will be an added advantage.
iii) Very good computer skills including knowledge of Word-processing packages, graphics and data base programmes.
iv) Should be no more than 45 years of age.
