The Peace Corps is an agency of the United States Government, which sends American volunteer development workers to assist in capacity building and technical assistance activities in over 70 countries worldwide.
                                                                         
The Peace Corps maintains a roster of trainers who can be called upon as need arises.  All applicants must be prepared to live and work full-time in a village setting under very basic conditions and must also have excellent communication skills in English.  Preference shall be accorded to those candidates having the below listed qualifications and having had some experience working in cross-cultural settings.  We are currently requesting interested individuals to submit applications for the following short-term positions:
                                                                       
I.  Language Trainers:(Dhopadhola and Lumasaaba) - Dec 2012 – Jan 2013

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
• At least a diploma in the area of specialization
• Experience in teaching and analyzing a Ugandan language
• Experience in adult education training and community development
• Excellent communication skills in English and a Ugandan language.

II.  Secretary:  November 2012 – February 2013

BASIC FUNCTION:
Providing Volunteer/trainee support at the Training location including arranging and scheduling short-term technical trainers, resource people, language and cross-cultural activities.  Also coordinates and delivers a variety of other support needs including handling general office management duties and general volunteer/trainee and staff support.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Managing training phone
• Receiving Peace Corps Volunteers and visitors
• Photocopying and collating all training documents
• Setting up training equipment for sessions
• Notes taking for sessions
• Writing and disseminating minutes

• Recording, sorting and delivering in-house mail
• Preparing relevant documents for training staff
• Preparing  training reports and documentation
• Recording meals and keeping records
• Providing  logistical support for satellite training
• Organizing workshops.

Qualifications and Experience:

The successful candidate should have at least a degree from a recognized institution in
Business Administration, Secretarial Studies or any other related academic areas, typing speed of at least 40 w.p.m, excellent computer knowledge including Word Processing, Power Point and Spreadsheet programs; excellent command of English, both spoken and written; native ability in spoken and written of at least one Ugandan language; ability to work independently with little supervision; good organization and time management skills; willingness to take initiative; excellent teamwork skills; personal integrity; strong cross-cultural skills; and the ability to work cooperatively with a diverse staff.  In the important role of Volunteer support, the person selected must have a pleasant manner and commendable interaction skills and must enjoy working with people of diverse cultures.
