Job Title: Technical Manager

Foundation Rural Energy Services (FRES) is a company registered in Uganda to provide electricity to rural areas where there is no access to grid electricity. FRES does so by using solar energy and operates on a “fee-for-service” model, installing and maintaining the equipment for the customer. The company has operations in 3 other developing countries in Africa with its parent company in the Netherlands.
The base office for FRES operations in Uganda is in Mbarara, Western Uganda.
FRES is seeking to recruit for the positions below which shall be based in Mbarara:

Job Title: Technical Manager

Reporting to the General Manager and a member of the company’s Management committee, the role has overall responsibility for the Installation and maintenance of the equipment. Specifically the role shall be mainly responsible for:

The installation, maintenance and breakdown service of Solar Energy Systems
Managing the performance of the technicians
Development and maintenance of a technical database
Inventory planning and management
Any other duties assigned from time to time

Qualifications and experience

Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a reputable institution,
Three to five years of managerial experience in a technical position
Experience with rural electric power systems is an added advantage

Knowledge, skills & Competencies

Good communication skills
Ability to speak local languages
Ability to live and work in a rural setting
Good Leadership and Teamwork
Initiative and ability to work under minimum supervision
