Research Assistant Job Vacancy in Uganda at International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT)

Job Title: Research Assistant-Pathology
Responsibilities:
• Work with the Senior Scientist to provide technical assistance in areas of plant pathology particularly in research on bean pathogens
• Manage and coordinate activities of Plant Pathology and Molecular Biotechnology Laboratory (MBL) to ensure safe custody of equipments and reagents
• Take regular inventory of all equipment and reagents in the PL and MBL to ensure adequate supplies for the smooth running of the Lab.
• Developing order list of equipment and reagents required in PL and MBL
• Ensure proper operation, maintenance and usage of equipment in the laboratory

Requirements:
• Masters Degree in Plant Pathology or Molecular Biology
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in a busy pathology laboratory preferably in an international organization
• Good analytical and report writing skills
• High level of computer skills, including knowledge of statistical packages
• Ability to cope with heavy intermittent workloads extending beyond office hours and during weekends
