Job Title: Projects Audit Assistant
Principal Accountabilities:
• Assist the Projects Auditor with establishing the objectives, scope, and methodology of the audit and developing audit programs.
• Perform research to obtain back ground information for the audit.
• Perform cash counts, physical inventories, or other audit procedures as requested by the Projects auditor or as needed to meet the audit objectives.
• Verify project asset registers and ensure that registers are current
• Sample to verify the physical performance of field activities
• Create work papers to document the audit work performed and support the audit report.
• Document audit results and highlight points for attention
• Develop audit recommendations to assist the auditee ' with improving operations and internal control systems.
• Prepare summary memorandums and draft audit reports.
• Perform follow up procedures to assess the adequacy of the auditee's implementation of the recommended actions.
• Communicate the status of work to the Projects Auditor or any other senior officer on a regular basis.
• Perform any other duties as may be reasonably assigned.
Qualifications:
The candidate should posses a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting). Studying to gain a professional qualification such as ACCA. CIMA, CPA or ACA would be an added
Minimum experience and exposure:
One year of experience in a reputable audit firm.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
• Knowledge audit procedures and requirements
• Knowledge of computerized accounting- preferably Navision.
• Knowledge of donor accountability requirements
Ability to:
• Accurately compile data and analyze information
• Use professional judgment and skepticism to conduct work.
• Comprehend and interpret policies, procedures, laws, regulations and guidelines
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and auditees.
• Work both independently and as a team member.
• Operate standard office equipment and personal computers using spreadsheets and processing applications.
• Perform frequent trips to our project sites up country,
Skills:
• Effective report writing and verbal skills
COMPENSATION:
Compensation for the positions listed above will be commensurate with experience, and training.
