Job Summary:

The Laboratory Technician performs verifiable quality assurance tests on Company products, as well as prepares laboratory reports prior to service delivery on location.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Performs

    Standard quality control testing of well stimulation and / or cementing fluid systems and and additives to verify fluid design.
    Basic additive selection and design of stimulation and / or cementing fluids.
    Preparation, operation, maintenance and calibration of equipment in the laboratory in accordance with Company standards.
    The documentation and reporting of laboratory results.
    Knowledge management queries utilizing InTouch
    Pre-test and pre-job tasks as needed in preparation for providing analytical support to actual operaions.

Assists

    The senior Laboratory Technician and Support Engineer in ensuring clean, orderly and safe working conditions in the laboratory and the disposal of laboratory waste according to properly conducted material.
    The senior Laboratory Technician and Support Engineer with additive selection and design of advanced stimulation and / or cementing fluid systems.
    The senior Laboratory Technician and Support Engineer with documentation and reporting of laboratory data related to the field testing of new technology.
    And mentors trainees and junior personnel in laboratory operations and procedures.

Completes

    Training modules outlines in the Laboratory Technician Interface to ensure timely career progression.
    Required safety training and necessary certifications.


Necessary Qualifications:

Experience and Competencies:

    Diploma / Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and / or a Laboratory Technician Certificate.
    Fresh graduate or 1 year  laboratory experience required.

The U.S. Embassy in Kampala is seeking an individual for the position of Small Grants Coordinator in the Political Section.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Under the direct supervision of the Political Officer and overview of the COM, incumbent is responsible for the design, management and implementation of one portfolio within the Mission's Small Grants Program.  The program includes grants under the Ambassador's Special Self-Help Fund, the Democracy and Human Rights Fund, Community Grants to Combat HIV/AIDS, and other non-recurring funds.  Responsible for  reviewing, selecting, managing and closing out grants. The incumbent is expected to follow political developments as they relate to democracy and human rights and HIV/AIDS.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
NOTE:  All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
1.  Education Required: University degree is required
2.  Work Experience: - Two years work experience in an office environment is required.  Previous experience with financial management and accountability is useful.   
3.  Language Requirement:  Level III English ability (fluent) is required.
4.  Knowledge:  General knowledge of development goals and an ability to write clearly and concisely is required.
5.  Skills: - Ability to plan, arrange, and administer all programs.   Must  be able to work in a high-volume, high productivity environment and to work well with others.  Must be computer literate, preferably with experience in MS Excel and MS Word.   Must be able to draft concise and clear  recommendations.   A successful candidate must be a self-starter, able to plan and execute his/her duties with minimal supervision.  Must also be willing to travel frequently to remote parts of Uganda to monitor and evaluate projects, and must be able to liaise effectively with projects implementers, beneficiaries, and government officials.
SELECTION PROCESS
