DUTIES:-

 Developing risk management policies for the Authority in line with the Authority guidelines, the Business plan, and best practices
 Reviewing and updating the risk management and compliance policies in place to ensure effectiveness and adequate risk management system and make recommendations to Senior Management as per set Standards.
 Monitoring the implementation of the Authority strategic plan and Divisional action plans and identify implementation risks and highlight it to the management for action in line with the Authorities risk management guidelines.
 Managing performance and development of staff in Risk and compliance Division as per the Human Resources performance management policy.
 Preparing and submitting quarterly risk management reports to senior management in line with the authorities risk management guidelines.
 Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Education in Palliative Care commenced at Hospice Africa Uganda (HAU) in 1993. It started with training health workers at certificate level followed by Diploma through Distance Learning programmes that have been expanded to degree level. Last year the Education Department at HAU was recognised as an Institute of Higher Learning by the National Council for Higher Education.

We are now seeking a dynamic leader (Vice Chancellor) for this Institute, who has experience in palliative care and/or higher education. The applicant should have experience in University administration at the level of a Dean or Head of Department.

Job Purpose:
To be a face for Africa and the world, for the new Institute, this is the only such Palliative Care training facility in Africa today.

To promote teaching of excellence adapted to the African economic and cultural circumstances; to promote research and publications within all areas of palliative care.


Specific Duties:
• To promote and carry forward the overall vision of HAU and within that, the Institute, in line with the spirit and ethos of HAU and other African countries
• To ensure the improvement, continuation of teaching programmes while introducing and improving new programmes in line with recent advances in palliative medicine.
