Duties and Responsibilities:

Evaluate and on-board CKW network partners

Identify, vet and develop partnerships with high potential partners
Conduct comprehensive analysis of partner strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats and weigh potential for potential for partner to contribute to sustainability and impact goals
Own at least two major CKW network partnership accounts and provide support to additional partnerships as needed
Conduct initial due-diligence and draft legal terms sheets for partnerships
Prepare ambitious but achievable project plan for each partnership account and lead effort to optimize resources, maximize impact to farmers, and set clear stakeholder expectations
Develop partner project budgets, reporting framework, and monitoring and evaluation plans

Provide on-going relationship management

Deepen relationships, leverage strengths and understand needs of local partners and manage key stakeholder relationships
Regularly meet and communicate with partners to implement project and ensure partner needs are met and expectations maintained
Liaise with partner, range of stakeholders, CKWs, farmers, and CKW team to guide and oversee project implementation
Develop and disseminate written and visual communications to stakeholders that highlight project achievements

Lead development, management and convening of partnership coverage teams for two partner accounts

Conduct monitoring and reporting

Develop success metrics and report regularly on progress to CKW team and partner

Develop strategy and follow escalation plans to address obstacles to achieving goals or unmet partner expectations

Duties and Responsibilities:

General Accounting

Ensure company compliance with established financial policies and procedures
Maintain company systems of accounts and ensuring that all accounting data is reconciled and fully supported
Ensuring maintenance of accurate records for all financial transactions
Ensure timely financial reports to the management and the Board of Directors. The CFM will suggest financial reporting formats or adopt existing formats to aid management and the Board of Directors understand the contents of the reports for decision making and strategic planning
Monitor the company procurement transactions to ensure they are in accordance with company procedures
Manage monthly net assets of the office by ensuring that on a monthly basis, balance sheet accounts(cash receivable, prepaid and payable accounts) reconciliations are completed in a timely manner and any usual balances are clearly documented and reported to appropriate level of management.
Establish procedures for custody and control of assets and records.
Co-ordinate and participate in the internal and external auditor processes.
Compliance with regulatory bodies and timely submission of all financial statutory requirements like VAT, NSSF, PAYE and any other required by law
Monitor the accuracy of payroll entries and reconciliation and its timely submission including management of payroll statutory deductions and employee advances to ensure collections and that employees are not over advanced.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information and reports.
Supervise members of the Finance Department and set targets for them to ensure performance

Cash and Banking

Supervise and monitor cash inflows and outflows involves ensuring that all cash transactions are supported by adequate documentations and authorizations
Reconcile company bank accounts
Establish in policies on advance payment, credit terms and use of bank payment instruments
Ensure the development and implementation of a plan to minimize the foreign exchange exposure to currency gains and losses
Supervise the collection of all contractual, employee receivables and other form of receivables

Budgeting

Prepare annual budgets for company and ensure that all activities are performed within budget
Analyze revenue and expenditure trends and recommend appropriate budget levels and ensure expenditure control.
Provide office management and the BOD with expenditure reports on a monthly basis

Advisory and Other Duties

Prepare operational and risk reports for management analysis.
Review client/supplier contracts to obtain a thorough understanding of the financial stipulations.
Prepare client invoices and ensure submission in a timely manner.
Initiate a rigorous collection process on invoices to avoid cash insufficiencies.
Oversee and implement financial management procedures for all the other company locations outside of Uganda.

Necessary Qualifications:

Skills Required:

Knowledge of standard practices, procedures and documentation used in financial transactions and advanced bookkeeping.

Job Title:Program Accountant

Main purpose of the Job
The main purpose of the job is to maintain, and update proper books of accounts in a computerized accounting system in use. S/he must ensure effective filling of accounting documents to facilitate easy access and retrieval. The Accountant shall assist ACDI/VOCA accomplish its objective by conducting him/herself with integrity and for advising on the necessary systems to safeguard the assets and financial operations of the program

  • Petty cash management
  • Compliance to taxes
  • Payroll responsibility
  • Book Keeping
  • Keeping custody of program assets & other documents
  • Bank accounts maintenance
  • Communications
  • Proper filling system

Qualifications
This job is based in Soroti based but may require travel to the field sites. The individual should have a higher Diploma or a University Degree in Accounting, Commerce or Financial Management. Part or full qualification with a professional accounting body such as CIMA, ACCA, and CPA is a definite advantage.

Experience
At least and a minimum of three years experience in a similar position with a reorganized NGO or International Organization (Private or Public). Experience with USAID donor funded project would be an added advantage.

Skills
  • This is a key position in the organization that requires intellect, team spirit, self-drive, integrity and honesty. Among others, the individual should have the following skills;
  • Proven leadership, managerial and organizational skills.
  • Be computer literate and proficient in the use of MS office with hands on experience in an accounting package such as pastel and QuickBooks.
  • Knowledge of income tax act and NSSF statutes.
  • Be Knowledgeable in OMB A-122(cost principles for not for profit organization)
  • Creativity and Initiative
  • Ability to supervise and manage finance functions
  • Possess good analytical skills, be flexible, honest and innovative
  • Good command of English language, strong report writing and analytical skills
