Uganda Management Institute (UMI) is a Management Development Institution with a mission “to excel in developing sustainable management capacity”. It provides management training, consultancy and research services in response to the demands of the public, private, and I\IG0 sectors. In addition to short performance improvement management skills development courses, the Institute offers high quality career development management courses at Certificate, Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma and Higher Degree levels. The Institute’s activities are currently carried out at the main campus in Kampala and its Outreach Centers in Mbarara, Gulu and Mbale.

In order to carry-out its functions efficiently and effectively, the Institute seeks to recruit suitably qualified persons in the full time posts below:

LECTURER IN PROCUREMENT MANAGEMENT (RE-ADVERTISED)

(a)    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

(i)    Developing high quality graduate-level training programmes

(ii)    Marketing UMI training programmes

(iii)    Developing world-class training materials and case studies

(iv)    Facilitating on training programmes of the Institute

(v)    Evaluating the impact of training given to participants

(vi)    Conducting research and publish.

(vii)    Carrying out consultancy services to UMI Clients.

(viii)    Supervising graduate students carrying out research projects as part of their training.

(ix)    Developing high quality customized short and long courses for practitioners and academicians.

(b)    PERSON SPECIFICATIONS:

(i)    A Bachelors Degree (Hons) and Masters Degree from a recognized University/ Institution in a related field

(ii)    A minimum of a PhD in a related field is mandatory to all applicants.

(iii)    Two years of teaching experience at postgraduate level in a higher Institution of learning.

(iv)    Should be aged 30 years and above

(v)    Evidence of at least three recent publications will be of added advantage.

(vi)    Evidence of pedagogical skills possession at postgraduate level will be of added advantage.

6.    REWARDS AND OTHER TERMS OF SERVICE
Successful candidates will, on being confirmed in appointment, be offered a five-year renewable contracts, a competitive basic salary complemented by housing allowance, medical allowance, transport allowance and an attractive gratuity scheme. Staff are also provided with support for continuous personal development.

USAID/Uganda seeks to hire PEPFAR Country Coordinator to serve as the primary point of contact in leading all activities related to PEPFAR in the Uganda. The contractor will play a critical role in managing the planning, implementation, and reporting of program performance of inter-agency programs. Primary responsibilities include: facilitating communications between and among the various USG departments and agencies involved in the PEPFAR implementation; liaising routinely with S/GAC in Washington, DC; managing communication between the PEPFAR team and the national entities; and leading coordination with efforts with Government of Uganda agencies, such as the Uganda AIDS Control Program as well as with bilateral/multilateral donors, including Global Fund, World Bank, Department for International Development (DFID), Irish AID, Danish Cooperation, UNAIDS, and others. The incumbent also directs the operational tasks for PEPFAR management in Uganda, including development of annual Country Operational Plans (COP), reporting for semi-annual and annual performance cycles, preparing responses to congressional and local requests for information, and serving as the primary liaison for the Uganda USG PEPFAR Team with all external communications. S/he will provide advice and counsel to the COM and Deputy Chief of Mission, other Agency leads, on all matters related to HIV/AIDS in Uganda, and will have authority to make final decisions to present to COM when consensus cannot be reached by the PEPFAR interagency teams.
