Responsibilities
Interpreting the National Environment Act and other related laws and advising on legal and other disputes;
Reviewing the existing sectoral laws in collaboration with other Institutions;
Assisting in the development of district by-laws and ensuring that they are in conformity with the National Environment Act;
Advise on compliance and enforcement of environmental laws and regulations in collaboration with other departments and Institutions;
Offering technical support to districts in the enforcement of the environmental laws;
Initiating legislation in the reform areas of multi sectoral concerns such as pollution management, wetlands management etc..;
Qualifications: An enrolled advocate with a minimum of a Bachelor of Laws from a recognized University with a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice
Experience: Should have at least a minimum of five(5) years working experience in Legal Practice in a reputable organization/ firm and relevant expertise in enforcement and compliance of environmental laws.
