Founded in 2004, the organization is headquartered in San Diego, California, with program offices in Uganda and DR Congo.

Country Overview:

Invisible Children Uganda (ICU) Ltd. is a registered NGO in Uganda comprised of approximately 95 staff and three offices, with the operations base in Gulu, satellite office in Pader, and regional coordination office in Kampala. ICU Programs focus on improving the quality of life in post-conflict northern Uganda through increased access to quality education and innovative livelihood initiatives.

Reports to: Director of Programs, Central Africa (HQ).

Key Responsibilities:

1.

Ensure that all programs fit into the strategic plan for the organization, fulfilling the broader mission statement and specific program objectives.
2.

Ensure that all programs are properly planned and executed with quality, accountability and measured impact, and that all programs continue to be progressive in nature.
3.

Build and maintain structures that ensure proper segregation of duties between financial systems, general operations, and programs.
4.

Establish and oversee an annual operating budget and ensure grant compliance through appropriate fiscal controls and reporting.
5.

Maintain positive working relationships with NGOs, CBOs, the Ministries, local leadership, and civil society leaders in all areas of implementation.
6.

Provide regular reports to the office of the Director of Programs in the US and to the Regional Office in Kampala.
7.

Work with the Regional Ambassador to identify and secure new in-country fundraising opportunities.
8.

Oversee the strategy and implementation of a consistent and comprehensive M&E process to assess and guide future programming.
9.

Directly oversee ICU’s executive management team; encourage, train, and build the capacity of all ICU management staff.
10.

Manage the security and safety of the team through the implementation of staff training and organizational systems.
11.

Host international donors, visiting delegations and staff from HQ and neighboring country offices.
12.

Value and encourage transparency and the use of media to capture compelling stories in northern Uganda to be shared with IC supporters around the world.
13.

Serve as a spokesperson for Invisible Children Uganda, liaising with local and international media as needed.

Qualifications:

*

A minimum of 10 years of experience in international development and a demonstrated and sophisticated knowledge of nonprofit management, entrepreneurial leadership and business systems, including the ability to develop and implement successful programs.
*

A minimum of 3-5 years experience supervising at least 50 staff, both international and national. Overseas field experience required; work experience in a post-conflict environment such as South Sudan, Mozambique, Angola, Liberia or northern Uganda is strongly preferred.
*

Undergraduate degree is required; an advanced degree in a related field is preferred.
*

Demonstrated ability in managing complex international operations, including development and monitoring project and operational budgets; proven track record of maximizing project impact under strict budgetary guidelines.
*

Strong background and experience with fundraising, with an ability to support country programs and regional staff in proposal development.
*

Proven success in ensuring high-quality program outcomes in a developing country setting.

Project/Proposal Summary:
