PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION UGANDA JOBS- Current Vacancies

Applications are invited from suitably qualified University Graduates to fill the following vacant posts currently available in the various Ministries/Departments as specified below. Applications should be submitted in triplicate on Public Service Form No. 3 (2008) to the Secretary, Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 7080, Kampala to be received not later than 22nd October 2010.

DUTIES:

The incumbent will be responsible to the Senior Inspector (SA) Pesticides for performing the following duties:-



· Ensuring that the laws and regulations controlling agro-chemical use are enforced.

· Inspecting all fumigators, agro-chemical applicators, agrochemical dealers, importers and manufacturers.

· Assessing all premises where agro-chemicals are commercially handled and identified,

· Liaising with District Local Government staff to ensure that the agro-chemicals are safely transported, stored, handled and not misused.

· Immediate reporting any agro-chemical misuse of agro-chemicals.

· On routine basis, collects agro-chemical samples for analysis to monitor quality and compliance with the Agro-chemical control Act

· Sensitizing importing and exporting communities along the border post about the dangers of importing diseased plants, plant products and pests into the country

· Treatment and supervising treatment of consignments that do not comply to national, regional or international standards

· Causing destruction and proper disposal of consignments that do not comply to national, regional and international standards

· Carrying out pest, disease and weed surveillance along the border and quick reporting of epidemic out breaks along the border post to the PAI Phytosanitary or the Department of Crop Protection.

· Designing interventions at household level to eradicate poverty among marginalized groups.

· Documenting and disseminating data and information on various interventions for poverty eradication.

· Reviewing guidelines to ensure effective management of grants based financial interventions for the poor.

· Assessing the impact and effectiveness of policies and programmes for poverty eradication.

· Collecting data and develop household and community poverty profiles.

· Coordinating the training of the communities, especially vulnerable groups in skills for poverty eradication, economic and civic rights.

· Initiating capacity building involved in poverty programmes.

· Assessing the capacity needs of communities especially the marginalized/vulnerable groups.

· Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
