Specific Tasks:

Job Purpose:

Required Qualification and Experience:

Job Purpose:
to manage the operation of the power system network and SCADA/DMS/GIS infrastructure for UMEME taking into account all aspects of power system control, monitoring and performance evaluation, leadership and power system operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the control Center Operations
  • Ensure all network operations comply with the system Operating regulations.
  • Ensure delivery of safe, reliable and high quality electrical energy to the customers
  • Install, commission and put to work hardware, software and communications systems (SCADA) to measure, monitor and control, on a 24 hour basis, electrical energy acquisition, distribution and supply to the customers.
  • Manage power system outage schedules in liaison with power system maintenance managers to ensure fast restoration times.
Required Qualification and Experience:
  • BSc Electrical Engineering Degree
  • At least eight(8) years post qualification experience in power system operations
  • Certificate in SCADA systems management from a recognized electricity utility training institution will be of added advantage.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Computer literacy at an advanced level
  • Detailed knowledge of power system operations in an electricity distribution environment
  • Load forecasting
  • Good knowledge of electricity supply industry.
