Job Title- Senior Nutrition Specialist
Location: Uganda (based in Kampala, with extensive travel within the country)
CRS is seeking a team player and experienced Senior Program Manager with strong technical expertise in nutrition and a proven record managing nutrition programs to manage the day-to-day implementation of nutrition activities for a large-scale USAID food security and nutrition program. Ugandan citizens are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
• The Program Director will be responsible for managing day-to-day implementation of nutrition activities for an integrated livelihoods and nutrition program, including overseeing: program implementation and finance management.
• Managing, supervising, providing ongoing technical support and leadership to nutrition staff located in twelve districts across the country.
• Leading project team in the development of household and community-level strategies for improving household nutritional status, including through behavior change, awareness-raising, and other techniques.
• Working through, and in close collaboration with government programs at the national, district and community level
• Working closely with partners and program staff to ensure project targets are achieved and exceeded
• Ensuring that the program is implemented according to design, quality standards and schedule
• Working closely with project Chief of Party, Deputy Chief of Party, and M&E staff to identify unforeseen challenges to program implementation and progress as they arise and adapt interventions accordingly.
• Producing timely, informative project reports, capturing project highlights and challenges
• Monitoring and managing expenses for the project on a monthly basis, ensuring adherence to budgets and compliance with donor requirements
Job requirement
Qualifications:
• Masters degree in Nutrition, Public Health or related field.
• 8+ years working on applied nutrition issues including household-level consumption
• 3 years program management experience
• 2-3 years training experience
• Familiarity with and connections to entities working on nutrition in Uganda (e.g., Ministry of Health, Makerere University, Regional Center for Quality in Healthcare, GINA Project)
• Expertise in behavior change issues related to nutrition
• Experience working in and building partnerships
• Experience in building the capacity of local organizations
• Proven ability to effectively manage people and build teams; able to build capacity in others
