As the project matures GF realizes the need to create impact by realigning it’s marketing strategy, making it more actionable, and getting closer to the farmer by creating and retaining a customer base to consume the information as well as a partner and client list to consume the product offering for deeper rural last mile outreach.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    * manage and coordinate all brand, marketing, advertising and promotional staff and activities
    * Build a strategy for an individual program/initiative/program (narrow scope); contribute/support KPIs.
    * conduct market research (qualitative and quantitative) to determine market requirements for existing and future products
    * analysis of customer research, current market conditions and competitor information present and explain the implications of competitive developments and market research to organization management
    * Ensuring that competitive developments are being tracked and that the implications of important changes are well understood.
    * develop and implement marketing plans and projects for new and existing products
    * manage the productivity of the marketing plans and projects
    * Present training and/or communication materials to internal and external stakeholders.
    * monitor, review and report on all marketing activity and results
    * Manage and be accountable for program budgets, work plans, documentation, execution and analysis of programs.

Position Summary:

The position is with the five year, USAID-funded Food and Nutrition Technical Assistance III Project (FANTA) . The Nutrition Specialist, Gender and Agriculture will provide technical assistance and support to integrate nutrition into the gender, social development and agriculture sectors in Uganda in line with the Uganda Nutrition Action Plan objectives, integrate gender considerations into FANTA’s other activities (and across sectors), provide guidance on programming that links nutrition with agriculture and/or gender and support policy development at national and sub-regional levels.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the FANTA Uganda Project Manager:

   1. Provide technical assistance to USAID/Uganda, Ministry of Gender Labor and Social Development (MOGLSD), Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF).
   2. Work with gender, social development, agriculture sectors, nutrition committees and working groups to establish priorities, work plans and provide technical assistance to implement the work plans.
   3. Coordinate national and sub-regional nutrition policy development by planning and facilitating meetings and workshops, providing technical updates, and developing technical resources to guide the process.
   4. Support MOGLSD to integrate nutrition into the work of community development ocers, functional adult literacy and OVC program coordinators and others, as identified: Review policies and materials, develop guidelines, training materials, job aides, counseling materials, and support revision of job descriptions, and supervision materials.
   5. Support MAAIF to integrate nutrition into the work of mid- level and community level extension workers, using rigorous, evidence-based approaches.
   6. Make technical presentations, develop technical briefs, technical reference materials, and reports, based on evidence, as necessary.
   7. Contribute to FANTA’s Nutrition Fellows Program: provide mentorship to fellows, help develop leadership training and quarterly skill-building sessions, helping build skills in nutrition/ gender and nutrition/agriculture linkages.
   8. Contribute to FANTA’s Collaborating, Learning and Adapting and knowledge management activities, specifically in theareas of gender and agriculture.
   9. Conduct rigorous formative research, qualitative and quantitative assessments as necessary to further understanding of gender, agriculture and nutrition linkages in Uganda.
  10. Support other FANTA activities, including advocacy, communication, pre-service and in service training, as needed.
  11. Participate in FANTA work planning and strategy development, reporting, quarterly and annual reporting to USAID/ Uganda and USAID/Washington.Participate in FANTA global initiatives, as requested

Requirement:

    * Master's degree in nutrition, agriculture, gender studios, or public health discipline or equivalent combination of education1 and experience.
    * At least 5 years relevant work experience. Experience with gender programming and familiarity with work on agriculture and nutrition linkages.
    * Experience working across sectors, multiple stakeholders and USAID funded programs preferred. Understanding of the UNAP,gender issues and other relevant policies in Uganda.
    * Knowledge of state of the art, evidence based approaches to agriculture and nutrition linkages.
    * Excellent written communication skills, including ability to write effectively for a range of audiences and purposes, including policy-makers, program managers and service providers. This includes the ability to make technical information accessible to non-technical audiences.
    * Excellent presentation, organizational, interpersonal skills, Initiative and ability to work independently and as a team.
    * Fluency in English relevant computer software skills (including, at a minimum, the standard applications in MS Office)

Focus Group Discussions (FGD) with stakeholders in the EAC Partner States; and in this case as well, prepare
reports on the basis of the findings from the consultations.

Overall Purpose of Job:

This involves provision of recommendations on short-term resource requirements, forecasts and projections on the various PEPFAR and CDC funded activities at UVRI.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

    * Develops and directs the execution of UVRI fiscal activity and budgeting based on project plans, resources available and a sound knowledge of operational practices.
    * Ensures that obligations incurred and resulting expenditures of funds are in accordance with pertinent grants management and GoU laws and regulations.
    * Oversees the entry of accounting data into a variety of accounting and financial management systems software, spread sheets, forms, schedules, and reports.
    * Prepares a variety of reports related to the status of funds and forecasting, expenses, obligations, employee level of effort and workload.
    * Reconciles accounts and makes adjustments as required to provide analysis of expenses, status of fund, and other financial data for the preparation of summary statements and reports.
    * Assists in the development of accounting procedures and resolves technical problems in executing a computerized, integrated accounting system.
    * Reviews historical financial operating data and trends to prepare and/or validate estimates.
    * Compiles and coordinates the preparation of materials for budget preparation.
    * Monitors control point expenditures In relation to planned levels
    * Prepares and provides all necessary documentation to support any financial data (i.e., indirect analysis, transfers of funds, and special authorizations) for anticipated audits.
    * Writes reports that identify noncompliance with regulations, inefficient operations, or improper practices.
    * Develops constructive recommendations for improvements to the financial position of the UVRI.

Requirement:
Required Knowledge:

    * HHS grants policy statement
    * USG grants management and monitoring
    * GoU procurement regulations
    * Other accounting and procurement best practice

Work experience requirements:

    * At least five years of progressively responsible experience in USG program accounting or auditing is required.
    * At least two years of this experience at supervisory level is required
    * Experience in financial and procurement management systems in an NGO setting

Education Requirements

    * Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business
    * Administration, and a professional qualification such as CPA (U), ACCA, CIMA with a minimum of 2 years post graduate experience in the public sector and/or an international organization.

Skills and attitude required:

    * Advanced level of analytical and computational ability to analyse, compile and present information in a concise manner
    * Knowledgeable about the PPOA rules and regulations
    * Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
    * Ability to work in a team- oriented and multi-cultural environment
    * Effective oral and written communication
    * Self-driven with a high sense of quality, efficiency and dedication

The Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) has signed an MoU with the U.S Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to strengthen Institute capacity through the management and coordination of laboratory surveillance, epidemiology, public health evaluations and training in Uganda under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief. Under this cooperation, UVRI intends to recruit the following personnel on a one year contract to be renewed depending on the availability of funds. All positions are based at Entebbe.

Job Title: Procurement Assistant (100% time and effort)

Reports to: The Project Manager

Main purpose of the position:

To coordinate all procurements in regard to this project and ensure that procurements are made in a timely manner, ensure there is value for money and accordance with PPDA Act and regulations 2003.

Key duties and responsibilities:

    * Preparation of Local Purchase Orders
    * Preparation of monthly procurement reports to PPDA through the UVRI Administrator
    * Act as the head of the Procurement Unit
    * Maintain a list of approved providers/suppliers.
    * Maintain and up-date procurement, stores, and disposal records.
    * Prepare monthly and quarterly reports to management and the PPDA.
    * Receive and verify incoming supplies in conjunction with internal audit.
    * Check all incoming supplies against order
    * Put supplies in proper safe stock location
    * Issue supplies from store and execute proper forms
    * Take periodic stock counts in line with standards
    * Liaise with procurement unit on replenishment and acquisition of materials in respect to lead times and delivery details,
    * Carry out any other duties that may be assigned by management.

Requirement:

    * Applicants should have at least a Bachelors degree in procurement or its equivalent or professional qualification in procurement e.g. CIPS.
    * They should have worked in a Procurement and Disposal Unit (PDU) of an entity for at least 2 years; and
    * should be conversant with public procurement procedures and regulations. Must be computer literate.
