Job Title: Finance Manager
Reporting to: Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

The Finance Manager is a top management position reporting directly to the Managing Director on a three (3) year renewable contract. The Finance Manager Directly supervises the Cost Accountant and
Financial Accountant.

Main Purpose of the Job:
To safe guard Company’s assets by developing and maintaining an effective finance and accounting function.
To maintain accurate financial and accounting records and provide Management with reports and information for performance evaluation, planning and decision making.

Duties and responsibilities:
1. Planning, supervising and cocoordinating all activities in the department and providing professional
and administrative guidance and advice to management.

2. Receiving, interpreting and executing all finance decisions made by the Board of Directors and as directed by the Chief Executive Officer.

3. Compiling annual estimates and, through the CEO, presenting to the Board of Directors for approval. Work periodically preparing statements indicating the company performance and financial position.

4. Developing and maintaining an efficient system of budgetary control.

5. Maintaining all accounting and financial data and systems necessary to record all transactions of the company in accordance with generally accepted international accounting standards and provisions of the Companies Act.

6. Ensuring that all accounting procedures and documents are adhered to safe guard Company assets.

7. Ensuring that all revenues due to the company are properly recorded, banked and accounted for.

8. Ensuring that all expenditures are properly and genuinely authorized and accounted for.

9. Ensuring that Government taxes are paid on time and other statutory deductions made at the source are properly accounted for.

10. Appraising all proposed capital projects and investments.

11. Preparing and presenting the financial statements.

1. Should possess a degree in accounting.

2. Should be a qualified member of a recognised professional Accountancy body.

3. A postgraduate degree in business administration will be an added advantage.

4. Should be having a working experience of at least ten (10) year of which four (4) should be in senior position in a medium or large sized company.

The British High Commission seeks to recruit a Trade Development Manager to provide advice and guidance to British businesses looking to invest in Uganda.

The successful candidate will lead the local UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) team as part of the regional network. They will be expected to provide high quality analysis and advice, highlighting areas of particular interest to British economic and commercial interests.

UKTI is the United Kingdom Government’s international business development agency. Trade Development Manager.

Main Responsibilities:

    Act as the first point of contact for British Businesses in Uganda. Provide advice to potential investors and businesses highlighting commercially related opportunities and developments.
    Promote Uganda as a destination with potential for focused quality Trade Missions relevant to local commercial opportunities and ensure that the profile of the Ugandan market is raised in the UK.
    Maintain an effective network of contacts across Ugandan government ministries, relevant organisations and the private sector.
    Undertake market research, and produce high quality reports on trade and investment opportunities and ensure that UKTI Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and OMIS targets are met through promotion pf UKTI services.
    Support the UK’s Prosperity agenda through robust analysis of the business climate and relevant reform agendas, both in Uganda and the region.
    Effectively lead and manage the UKTI team in Kampala.

Requirement:

    Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferably in Commerce, Economics, Finance, Business Studies or any other related field.
    Minimum 3 years full-time professional experience, in International Business or Marketing advisory role at management level.
    A proven track record of fostering business relationships or a demonstrated understanding of commercial enterprise in various sectors.
    A good understanding of international / regional / Ugandan trade and investment issues

Skills and knowledge

    Excellent research and report writing skills.
    Knowledge of UK and Ugandan domestic / foreign affairs is desirable.
    Ability to speak credibly with senior representatives of public and private sector organisations.
    Excellent computer skills in all MS Office applications.
    Proven online research skills.
    Thorough command of the English language both written and verbal.
