Trade Development Manager
( British High Commission, Uganda )
The British High Commission seeks to recruit a Trade Development Manager to provide advice and guidance to British businesses looking to invest in Uganda.
The successful candidate will lead the local UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) team as part of the regional network. They will be expected to provide high quality analysis and advice, highlighting areas of particular interest to British economic and commercial interests.
UKTI is the United Kingdom Government’s international business development agency. The UKTI team in Uganda is charged with trade development between the UK and Uganda, assisting Ugandan companies looking to set up operations or expand in the UK and alerting and informing British businesses about opportunities in Uganda.
Trade Development Manager.
Main Responsibilities:
Act as the first point of contact for British Businesses in Uganda. Provide advice to potential investors and businesses highlighting commercially related opportunities and developments.
Promote Uganda as a destination with potential for focused quality Trade Missions relevant to local commercial opportunities and ensure that the profile of the Ugandan market is raised in the UK.
Maintain an effective network of contacts across Ugandan government ministries, relevant organisations and the private sector.
Undertake market research, and produce high quality reports on trade and investment opportunities and ensure that UKTI Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and OMIS targets are met through promotion pf UKTI services.
Support the UK’s Prosperity agenda through robust analysis of the business climate and relevant reform agendas, both in Uganda and the region.
Effectively lead and manage the UKTI team in Kampala.
Requirement:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferably in Commerce, Economics, Finance, Business Studies or any other related field.
Minimum 3 years full-time professional experience, in International Business or Marketing advisory role at management level.
A proven track record of fostering business relationships or a demonstrated understanding of commercial enterprise in various sectors.
A good understanding of international / regional / Ugandan trade and investment issues
Skills and knowledge
Excellent research and report writing skills.
Knowledge of UK and Ugandan domestic / foreign affairs is desirable.
Ability to speak credibly with senior representatives of public and private sector organisations.
Excellent computer skills in all MS Office applications.
Proven online research skills.
Thorough command of the English language both written and verbal.

Remuneration package: The annual salary range for the position is UGX 53,800,000 to UGX 78,569,231.
