JOB TITLE: DISTRICT INFORMATION TECHNOLGY OFFICER
Job Role:
To provide technical advice to the District on the proper choice and or Utilisation of IT hardware, software and systems whether provided by NITA-U or any other relevant authority as well as ensuring thier effective maintance and user support in order to achieve Government overall IT policy objectives particularly rationalisation of the NITA-U Mandate.
Report to: IT Services Administrator
Key Result Areas:
Proper identification of District IT needs in liaison with NITA-U in seeking for proper solutions for such IT requirements; Ensure that IT hardware and software requirements are effectively planned and fully costed and integrated within the District Consolidated work plans and budgets; Act as first line of support of all IT problems that may occur at the District from time to time; In liaison with NITA-U to ensure advocacy, promotion and popularisation of Government IT regulations, policies as well as strategies within the district; To support the Authority in IT research and data collection as well as dissemination at the district level; Organise computer training for staff according to the needs of the district; Offering first line support on all the Authority’s hardware and software installations and other network infrastructure within the District; Ensuring that proper inventories and tracking of IT hardware and software as well as auxiliary equipment at the District; Support for the design, provision and commercialisation of E-Government services within the district including but not limited to
Government (G2G) Services (Efficiency and Cost Savings);
Government to Business (G2B) Services (Efficiency and Revenue Generation);
Government to Citizen(G2C) Services (Efficiency and Revenue Generation)
Keeps him/her self informed about technical developments and update the line manager on new developments in IT. To support the Authority in monitoring and reporting on IT projects within the district ; Perform any other duties, which may be assigned from time to time.
Critical Outputs: Fully functional Information and Communication Technology systems and services; District IT requirements assessment reports; Annual District IT Work Plans and Budgets; Preparation and Submission of Quarterly IT performance (ICT Systems and Services monitoring, incident, compliance and maintenance) report; District Information and Communication Technology training plan; Documented Inventory of ICT hardware and software as well as auxiliary equipment.
Qualifications:
University Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering or any Core IT related field; A Masters degree in any of the above is an added advantage; Professional Certification such as CCNA, MCSE,OCP etc is also an added advantage; Demonstrated working Knowledge of software, hardware and networking solutions; Excellent organisational skills and team work ; Must have good communication and reporting skills and particularly proficiency in English and its relevant use in ICT; Pleasant with good interpersonal skills and ready to work under pressure with minimum supervision; Supportive/facilitating attitude and an accurate way of working; Ability to Multitask and prioritise effectively; and Experience in working in multicultural environments;
