Job Title: Statistician
Functions
Under the supervision and general direction of the WHO Representative, the incumbent will manage the collection, analysis, interpretation, processing, presentation and dissemination of numerical information from multiple sources that include health services, financial and population data sources, supporting ministry of health Resource Center.
He or she will perform the following functions
Applies advanced statistical techniques and methods in the processing and analysis of data and data modeling.
Participates in the collection and dissemination of relevant indicators as specified by the ministry of health policies.
Performs quality control on data collected and ensure good quality of data produced. improve methods and ideas of data collection, processing analysis and dissemination.
Education and Professional Training
Strong combination of Education and training equivalent to possession of a bachelor's degree in Bio statistics, statistics, Demography and Mathematics that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described.
Masters Degree in Bio statistics or public Health is an added advantage .
Various statistical software packages such as STATA, MS Excel, or SAS.
Office Computing packages such as Microsoft office.
Experience
At least three (3) years experience in applying statistics in a reputable organization with acceptable evidence of knowledge, competence and contribution to the organization's goals.
Skill and Ability to:
communicate effectively in both oral and written forms; interact with users and staff in a non-technical clear terms.
Assist staff with difficult technical tasks , including the creation of specialized pivot tables.
Work independently and as a team member.
Set priorities and organize work to meet strict reporting deadlines
Languages Required:
Through knowledge of the English language. Working knowledge of the french would be added advantage
