JOB DESCRIPTION
COMMISSION: Delegation - Uganda
Job Family: Administrative Coordination and Support
Job Profile
Overall Purpose
To contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the Administration Section through pro-active support of the section. The Driver is expected to take initiatives within the limits defined by the Head of the Administration.
Functions and duties:
• Check the condition of vehicles every morning
• Maintain cleanliness of Delegation cars
• Mail delivery
• Drive Delegation Staff and EU visitors on official business
• Drive Delegation staff to and from the airport
• Drive Delegation staff and other authorised persons to and from missions
• Fill in for the Receptionist when need arises
• Any other duties assigned by the Head of Administration or Head of Delegation
Organisational set-up
The Driver will be part of the team in the Administration Section, under the direct supervision of the Protocol Officer with overall guidance and supervision of the Head of Section.
Job Requirements
Formal Education
Minimum Secondary level education.
Valid driving licence with Classes A, B, CM, and DM
Experience
• 5 Years professional driving experience
• Motorcycle riding experience would be advantage
• Knowledge of all protocol and Immigration procedures
• Previous experience working in a Diplomatic Mission or International Organization would be an advantage
Competencies and skills
• In depth knowledge of Kampala
• Good knowledge of roads upcountry
• Ability to interface with staff at all levels
• Excellent command of English Language. Knowledge of French will be an added advantage
• Having good contacts with diplomatic Missions relevant offices
• Ability to work as part of a team in a multi-cultural environment
• Good communication, dialogue and listening skills
• Defensive/Security driving and First AID training would be an added advantage
• Familiar with the use of computers in MS Windows environment, minimum Explorer, MS Word and MS Excel.
• At least a basic technical knowledge of car mechanics
