DEPUTY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TECHNICAL OPERATIONS:

reports to the Executive Director, and performs the following duties and responsibilities:-

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Deputy Executive Director Technical Operations shall be the Chief Technical Operating Officer of the Bureau in order to provide professional guidance on provision of Standards Development, Quality Assurance, Legal Metrology, National Metrology Laboratories and Testing activities for the bureau.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Assist the Executive Director in the efficient management of UNBS, within the policy framework of the UNBS Act, Government and National Standards Council
    Manage, control, coordinate and supervise staff and UNBS programs and operations within the Directorate
    Assist the Executive Director in the efficient management of UNBS, within the policy framework of the UNBS Act, Government and National Standards Council
    Provide advice on technical and administrative matters affecting the UNBS including meetings and preparing technical papers and briefs for clientele and visitors to UNBS
    Prepare presentations to meetings of stakeholders on technical issues.
    Oversee the quality management system at UNBS as well as authenticating all testing and metrology certificates issued by UNBS on daily basis.
    Ensure the financial and logistical support to the departments are provided for the planned activities
    Participate in regional and international standardization activities
    Map out recruitment and training requirements for the departments and coordinating with Deputy Executive Director Management Services for purposes of staff development.
    Provide Quarterly analytical report to Management on the activities of the Directorate.
    Perform any other relevant duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Executive Director.

Requirement:

    Possession of Honours degree in either Chemistry, Biology, Food science, Food Technology, Engineering or any other science related qualification from a recognized University/Institution
    Must be computer literate with skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet applications.
    Working experience of at least fifteen (15) years, eight (8) years of which are at a senior management level in a reputable organization
    Experience in Standards, Quality Assurance, Metrology and Laboratory Testing areas and Quality Management Systems will be an added advantage
    Possession of PhD will be an added advantage
    Possession of a Masters degree in Business Administration will be an added advantage
    Member of a recognized professional body is an added advantage

The Account Manager will have overall responsibility for selling and supporting Smile’s complete data product and service offering.

Focusing on existing and potential high value/ usage customers, the Account Manager’s most critical interaction will be customer presentations/ face-to-face meetings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    Develop profitable and sustainable sales growth plans for the assigned customer segment(s) and/ or geographical area(s).
    Customer identification and recruitment: aggressively grow sales volumes and profitability within the assigned segment(s) and/ or geographical area(s) through proactive sales, understanding customer requirements/ needs.
    Effectively co-ordinate the activities of the resources assigned to ensure that sales and revenue targets are met.
    Ensure that agreed sales targets and objectives are met by expanding market awareness of Smile’s brand, products and services.
    Register Smile customers onto the Smile network and install Smile routers, dongles and/ or other equipment at the customer premises.
    Attain intimate knowledge of the composition of the Smile market in your assigned area(s)/ segment(s). Create and maintain an up-to-date database of existing and potential customers within the assigned area(s)/ segment(s) with the view to expand the Smile footprint.
    To be responsible for the safe keeping of cash received from sales until it has been handed over to the Smile Cashier or bank in a Smile bank account.
    Manage customer relations, attend to customer queries and continuously measure customer satisfaction and take prompt corrective measures.
    Review daily, weekly and monthly results and align activities and resources accordingly.
    Report on sales results and market conditions to the line Manager and make appropriate recommendations.
    Maintain in good condition all tools of trade (“equipment”) issued to you by Smile and ensure that they are returned to Smile for safe keeping at the end of every day.
    Provide any other ad hoc duties assigned to you from time to time by your line Manager or any other person appointed by the Company for this purpose.

Key Performance Indicators:

    Achievement of customer recruitment (sales) and revenue targets.
    Organisation – sales plans, route plans, execution documentation, meeting attendance and reporting.
    Customer satisfaction and relationship management (retention and compliant resolution).
    Conversion of prospects into paying customers.
    Product knowledge/ awareness of assigned market segment.
    Compliance to Smile Sales and cash handling processes and procedures.

Job Requirements:

    Degree in Business, Marketing, Sales other business related degree.
    Sales experience with at least 2-3 years at supervisory or managerial level.
    Experience in the same or similar role in an ISP or telecom services provider.

Skills and competencies:

    Local market knowledge. Product specific knowledge will be an added advantage.
    Successful track record in meeting and/ or exceeding sales targets. Strong aptitude and knowledge of Sales and Marketing Techniques.
    Resource planning, organisation and time management skills.

Job Summary:

This role will be responsible for proactively and systematically developing new direct sales business by managing, developing and mentoring the direct sales teams’ performance to achieve set growth plans and sales targets.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    Provide leadership, direction and development to all aspects of the Smile direct sales teams incl. Corporate Sales.
    Participate in the development of sales processes, monitor adherence to sales processes and recommend changes to any inconsistencies that may hinder sales within the direct sales channel.
    Implement direct sales strategies/ plans and accurately and proactively manage revenue sales forecasts.
    Coordinate sales forecasting, planning and budgeting processes for all direct sales teams. Collate and ensure timely submission of sales reports and other intelligence essential to the sales organisation.
    Manage the Smile direct sales operations and support including: target setting and route plans for the direct sales teams, reporting, inventory and logistics, commissions and incentive schemes, processes, governance, training, sales promotions/ activations in liaison with the relevant departments.
    Motivate and manage direct sales partners to exceed sales objectives by continuously striving to minimise conflict, provide education of the Smile value proposition, merchandising support and identifying sales opportunities.
    Keep up to date with market trends, competition and new products and make appropriate recommendations to drive sales and revenue generation.
    Contribute to the development of sales campaigns and collateral material and how it can be applied across the direct sales channels.
    Provide a single point of contact for direction regarding product information, pricing and technical support.
    Ensure superior customer service in line with Smile’s brand promise throughout all Smile direct sales channels.
    Co-ordinate with other functions to efficiently and effectively execute direct sales channel development and management. Ensure goals and plans are effectively communicated, understood and applied.
