Jo Title: Public Relations Officer

Main Task:
Reporting to the commission and Public Relations Executive, the job holder will be charged with the day to day handling of public relations and community related issues that require a communication intervention at REA.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
  • The person selected for this position will be responsible for the following duties;
  • Implement awareness campaigns geared towards promotion of rural electrification,
  • Foster community relations through the provision of appropriate information, mobilize and sensitize them on procedures of getting electricity, productive use of energy including issues of health and safety.
  • Ensuring all responses on community schemes are correctly done and the files kept up-to-date.
  • Plan and implement media and publicity program.
  • Handle media inquiries and media monitoring on all media outlets

Minimum Qualifications
Candidate must possess a minimum of a good Bachelors Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism or Public Relations,
A good Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences, Arts or Linguistics and a post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication, Public Relations or Journalism from a reputable Institution.

Key Competencies:

  • Good media relations and events management Skills
  • Excellent command of English language. Knowledge of other languages spoken in Uganda will be an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Facilitation and execution of risk identification and evaluation in order to limit negative environmental impacts

Main purpose of the Job
The main purpose of the job is to maintain, and update proper books of accounts in a computerized accounting system in use. S/he must ensure effective filling of accounting documents to facilitate easy access and retrieval. The Accountant shall assist ACDI/VOCA accomplish its objective by conducting him/herself with integrity and for advising on the necessary systems to safeguard the assets and financial operations of the program

At least and a minimum of three years experience in a similar position with a reorganized NGO or International Organization (Private or Public). Experience with USAID donor funded project would be an added advantage.
