Job Title: Assistant Facilities Engineer (1 Post)

BACKGROUND: The Baylor College of Medicine Children's Foundation - Uganda (Baylor -Uganda) headquartered at Mulago hospital, is a comprehensive HIV care and treatment organization that supports the treatment and care of HIV infected and affected Children and Adults. Baylor - Uganda has three operational areas; HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment services, Health professional training and clinical research.

Baylor-Uganda is engaged in working with the MOH in a number of Districts in Uganda in strengthening health systems for improved delivery of HIV/AIDS services. We are therefore looking for experienced, committed and hard working individuals prepared to work for a fixed one year contract in Health centres and District hospitals in Adjuman, Koboko, Kabarole, Kamwenge and Kyenjojo.

Assistant Facilities Engineer (1 Post)

Role definition: To provide support in the maintenance of facilities according to the Ministry of Works standards and healthy, safe, acceptable, and clean working environment
Key result areas:
1. Draft architectural designs for Baylor Uganda supported health
centers in line with the Ministry of Works standards.
2. Supervise and monitor suppliers, outsourced contractors/ consultants work carried out at Baylor Uganda supported health centers in line with the given program objectives and Ministry of Works standards.
3. Plan and carry out periodic renovations of infrastructure and monitor the implementation of schedule for general cleaning of buildings and roads in Baylor Uganda in line with departmental objectives
4. Carry out both preventive and routine maintenance on all electro-mechanical systems line with departmental objectives
5. Monitor and repair faulty plumbing and sewerage systems in line with departmental guidelines
6. Monitor and repair the door fittings, lighting fixtures, table furniture and seating furniture frequently at the COE in line with facility maintenance guidelines
7. Re- design and install the water network systems for the main water supply in line with the departmental mission
8. Develop bills of quantities for civil and electrical works in line with the departmental mission

Job requirement

Job specifications:
The job holder should have; 1) a diploma in Civil engineering, with certificates in electrical and plumbing and a member of a professional body (2) 5 years of experience in: building & infrastructure systems, tools, equipment maintenance & repair, plumbing, repairing electro¬mechanical systems and in managing/ supervising Contractors (3) have Key personal competences in Team and communication skills, with highly developed technical drawing skills, negotiation skills, analytical skills (4) basic knowledge of the law relating to health and safety
