Job Title: Senior Lecturer to head the Research Division for IPMA


HOSPICE AFRICA UGANDA,
INSTITUTE OF PALLIATIVE MEDICINE FOR AFRICA (IPMA)
KAMPALA, UGANDA

Job Purpose:
1. To set up the department including ethical policies, procedures and
monitoring.
2. To identify essential areas for research for Africa based on the 20 years
experience of Hospice Africa, which was the first palliative care service model
for Africa.
3. To develop a research portfolio for IPMA including systems for reporting and
monitoring.
4. To teach research methods, suitable and affordable in the African context,
which can be adapted for any African country.
5. To train in the IPMA team and other researchers in research methods
6. To supervise research projects for degree, Masters level and in the future
doctorate level .

Minimum Requirements:
A PhD and/or Master’s degree in a health related topic which included a research
dissertation. Experience or post graduate degree in palliative medicine or related
specialty would be an advantage.

At least five years of research experience within a University or Institute of Higher
learning.

Experience in research studies from start to completion in the medical setting.
Experience of publishing in high impact journals and conference presentations.
Qualified teacher with experience of teaching research methods.

Previous experience in Africa is an added advantage.
Referees upholding high integrity and an active team player in previous postings
