Job Title: Project Manager
Overall responsibility: Reporting to the conservation Manager, The Project Manager shall ensure that the project is implemented properly and efficiently, on time, and within the budget. S/he will coordinate the efforts of team members, UWA-RMNP, local governments and third-party contractors or consultants in order to effectively deliver on the project purpose and outputs according to plan,

The successful candidate shall;

1. Manage the project, to ensure that its agreed purpose and outputs are achieved and implemented properly in accordance with the highest professional standards;
2. Ensure proper working relationships are maintained with local partners and government institutions, local authorities (this includes seeking approval of work plans, coordinating implementation of activities and submitting progress reports to local governments);
3. Ensure the completion of ToRs and sampling protocols for ecological monitoring and research and resource inventories in the RMNP;
4 Work with UWA to identify sites for ecological monitoring (assessment, inventory and identification) identified and agreed on parameters (plant and animal resources by species or habitats);
5. Support RMNP to develop simple data base of accessible primary data;
6. Work closely with UWA and consultants in defining, implementation, analyzing and reporting on ecological monitoring and research and resource inventories;
7. Formulate Community-based resource use management and ecological monitoring plans, and supervise their effective implementation together with UWA and the local community;
8. Ensure that ecological monitoring is done according to agreed protocols and that credible data on EMP, MSE are collected; analyzed and documentation of results and impacts of the project documented and disseminated;
9. Ensure that proper controls/protocols are maintained to safeguard funds sent to the field, as well as ensuring that all expenditures are properly accounted for and that detailed supporting documents are kept of all financial transactions;
10. With the MSE officer and the project administrator set up a functional monitoring system to monitor progress of the project against technical as well as financial indicators and prepare quarterly technical progress reports to WWF;
11, Document and disseminate project results, achievements and impacts. Where a consultant is involved, the manager will work him/her to ensure that credible documents are produced as required.

Minimum qualifications:
Education: Masters degree in Ecology, Forestry or natural resources monitoring. Post graduate in natural resources management is an added advantage.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience in nature conservation, ecological sampling, studies and analysis, natural resource management. Experience in managing donor funded projects is an added advantage.
Skills and ability: Proven communication and leadership skills, as well as proven capacity to collaborate effectively with representatives of governmental institutions and work effectively in a team with collaborators and stakeholders.
