Job Title: Communications and Advocacy Officer
Station: Kampala
Reports to: Program Manager

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Carry out advocacy campaign against torture in particular.
• Communicate effectively the vision, mission and program objectives of ACTV.
• Prepare and distribute ACTV magazines/newsletter and annual reports for public consumption.
• Hold press conferences as when authorized by management.
• Prepare and participate in regular awareness radio/television programs and print media.
• Coordinate activities t mark human rights day including the UN International Day in Support of Victims of Torture (June 26).
• Coordinate the implementation of trainings and awareness activities on human rights and torture.
• Visit places of detention.
• Participate strategic planning and contribute t proposal writing.

Qualifications
• University degree in Journalism or Mass Communications.

Competence and Skills:
• Computer literacy in MS office and website management.
• Proposal writing skills will be an added advantage.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to interact professionally with clients and stake holders.
• Excellent communication skills.
• At least two years practical experience in an NGO setting is preferred.
