Job Title: Risk Officer – (1 Position
The position is based at Head Office at it reports to the Risk Manager.
Job Purpose.
To support the Risk Manager in identifying and managing potential and existing risk in a
timely and appropriate manner. It is also responsible for tracking risk trends in order to
reduce exposure of the company to high risk activities and potential losses.
Key output:
• Daily monitoring of the institution liquidity position to ensure that any liquidity shortfall are
timely identified and strategies put in place to regularize.
• Daily monitoring of all the General ledger Accounts to ensure that any exceptions are
identified and resolved on a timely basis.
• Review of the reconciliation of all suspense and correspondent bank accounting to ensure
timely transfers and identification of any irregularities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Daily monitoring of the institution liquidity position to ensure that any liquidity shortfall are
timely identified and strategies put in place to regularize.
• Daily monitoring of all the General ledger accounts to ensure that any exceptions are
identified and resolved on a timely basis.
• Continuous review and monitor Finance Trust’s foreign exchange overnight exposure and
the net open positions and advise management on any emerging risks.
• Daily monitoring of the foreign exchange performance trends and advise management on
any risk exposures arising from counter party and currency positions.
• Review of the Credit Deposit ratios in line with Finance Trust’s risk appetite.
• Review and monitor large transactions to ensure that proper documentation is obtained
prior to completion of the transaction.
• Review the reconciliation of all correspondent bank accounts to ensure timely transfers
and identification of any irregular transactions.
• Continuous age wise monitoring and review of the suspense accounts of the bank to
ensure that all long outstanding entries are cleared on an ongoing basis.

Bank of Uganda as a Microfinance Deposit Taking Institution (MDI) and is

• Monitoring and reporting on all clearing cheques and tracking of the unpaid cheques to
ensure that all necessary fees and commissions are recovered on a timely basis and that
the cheque clearing account is balanced off on a daily basis.
• Continuous review and monitoring of all validation exceptions at branches and advising
management on the most recurrent exceptions to initiate action for correction.
• Review of all placements to other banks to ensure that management is informed on any
maturing investments for proper planning.
• Monitoring of the activities on dormant accounts to ensure that all activation is in line with
Finance Trust procedures.
• Review and monitoring of the reconciliations for settlement accounts for all value added
services to ensure that all entries are posted correctly and in a timely manner.
• Review of all overdrawn accounts and initiate recovery corrective action.
• Review and monitor Finance Trust’s investment portfolio and advise management on any
maturing securities and inter bank placements with the realizable gains/losses.
• Critical analysis of the credit practices to identify any miss-matched transactions and
abnormal losses
.
Minimum Requirements:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration or any other related discipline
from a recognized university.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to pay attention to detail.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong emotional intelligence.
• High level of integrity.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
