Chemonics seeks an environmental compliance specialist, curriculum development specialist, and a chief of party for the anticipated USAID-funded Education for Environmentally Sound Oil Management project in Uganda. The project aims to build the capacity of government agencies, civil society members, and the private sector to carry out sound environmental management and biodiversity conservation regarding oil and gas development. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:

    Provide overall project leadership, management, and technical direction for the program
    Oversee and manage technical work and build strong relationships with Ugandan counterparts, particularly Makerere University, to create new advanced degree programs for prospective students
    Serve as the primary liaison with USAID, government counterparts, and Makerere University partners
    Manage and supervise the work of project personnel and subcontractors
    Ensure that all project assistance is technically sound and appropriate
    Work collaboratively to create and implement a strategic, long-term programmatic vision
    Oversee project work planning, performance management, and strategic communications



Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in education administration, environmental management, or related field preferred for the environmental compliance specialist and the curriculum development specialist
    Advanced degree in education administration, environmental management, or related field required for the chief of party
    Minimum 10 years of senior-level experience designing, implementing, and managing environmental education projects in international settings
    Experience developing degree programs, educational curriculum, and short-term training programs in oil and gas resource management, and/or biodiversity conservation
    Experience working collaboratively with government agencies, host-country governments and counterparts, and international donor agencies; USAID experience preferred
    Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to manage relationships with counterparts, beneficiaries, subcontractors, staff, and USAID
    Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
