Job Title: Technical Dairy Specialist

Responsibilities:
•    Providing technical assistance in determining the need for and the design of project’s chilling plants.
•    Supporting the installation processes and ensuring that the Chilling Plants management understands.
•    Providing technical support to increase market access for small holder farmers in Uganda and Rwanda.
•    Providing lessons based on experience form elsewhere in developing BDS providers and their capacity leakages.
•    Ensuring prudent chilling plant hub and BDS site and client identification and selection.
•    Leading development of the BDS provider portfolio identifying needs and resources for technical assistance and training.
•    Provide technical assistance and training to improve dairy quality control.
•    Proactively identifying successful strategies and tactics.
•    Providing content for the development of training for informal industry stakeholders to improve milk quality.
•    Facilitate identification and validation of new market opportunities, product development and launch of new products.
•    Support dairy businesses to develop new products.

Qualification and Experience:
•    Strong dairy expertise, especially in regard to dairy processing, market development and business development services for farmers, farmer business groups and chilling plants set up and management.
•    Minimum f 7 years experience in business.
•    Experience in the East Africa dairy sector preferred and solid private sector strategy and management experience.
•    Proven capacity to guide, support and build capacity of wide range of staff.
•    Willingness to travel and work for long hours.
•    Computer literacy, strong financial analysis and management skills.
