Quality Assurance Manager Jobs at UNBS in Uganda

Job Title: Manager Quality Assurance (Salary Scale UNBS 3)
Reports to the Deputy Executive Director- Technical Services and is responsible for market surveillance and certification activities of the UNBS.

The successful candidate shall be required to perform the following duties:
•    Supervise lower level staff by continuously assisting, guiding and directing them while regularly reviewing their performance during performance review meetings and annual performance appraisal;
•    Establish procedures for efficient performance and management of the quality assurance department in accordance with  international standards;
•    Enforce standards so as to protect consumers and environment against dangerous and harmful products;
•    Compile annual, monthly and weekly work plans for the Department, complete with budgets and expected outputs;
•    Coordinate and control all activities of the Department staff, so as to ensure that operations are being carried out in a cost effective and efficient manner;
•    Provide liaison and linkage between the Department and other Departments as well as nationally and internationally on quality assurance matters;
•    Coordinate and monitor risk assessment and profiling of substandard goods on the market;
•    Promote cooperation and team work within staff of the Department and Management; and produce monthly, quarterly and annual reports for submission to management   
•    Perform any other duties assigned from time to time by the supervising officer.


Qualifications and other requirements
•    Possession of a Masters Degree in either Public/Business Administration, Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, Food Technology, Engineering or any other science related qualification from a recognized University/Institution
•    Possession of Honours degree in either Chemistry, Biology, Food science, Food Technology, Engineering or any other science related qualification from a recognized University/Institution
•    Must be computer literate with skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet applications.
•    Working experience of ten (10) years, five (5) years of which are at a senior management level in a reputable organization
•    Experience in Standards, Quality Assurance, Metrology and Laboratory Testing  areas and Quality Management Systems will be an added advantage

The successful candidate needs to be a team player, an excellent communicator with good oral communication and presentation skills.

Age:  Between 35 and 50 years
