Job Title: District Education Officer

Reports to: Chief Administrative Officer
Responsible for: Principle Education Officer Principal Inspector  of Schools sports Officer

Job Purpose:
To coordinate and provide technical and professional guidance in management of education and sports policies, plans and programmes in the district

Key Functions:

• Implementing Education laws, policies and regulations
• Implementing approved education and sports development plans, strategies and council decisions
• Organizing and facilitating teachers' training programmes
• Coordinating school inspection and sports programmes

Person Specifications:

• should hold an honours bachelors degree in Education from a recognized university
• Either a masters degree in education planning and management or Human Resources Management or Public Administration and Management
• At least 9 years experience, 3 of which must have been in management of an educational institution or gained from professional experience in managerial capacity at the level of principal Education Officer
