Job Title: SENIOR STATISTICIAN - PRICES (1)

Salary scale: UBOS P3
Reports to: Principal Statistician


Duties and Responsibilities
1. Compile Annual and Monthly Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Rural Uganda.
2. Produce Monthly and Quarterly Rural Price Statistics Unit performance Reports.
3. Initiate and monitor fieldwork programmes for Rural CPI activities.
4. Develop, compile and continuously update the Monthly Matrix of Events and the
Article File for Rural Consumer Prices Statistics.
5. Participate in national social and economic censuses and surveys conducted by the
Bureau and other major Bureau Stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements
 An honours Degree in B. Statistics, BSc. Economics/Statistics or Quantitative
Economics. Post graduate Diploma in a relevant field will be an added advantage;
 At least 4 years of working experience as a Statistician, preferably within a reputable
private organization or public institution will be added advantage;
 Excellent knowledge of data sources of economic statistics;
 Sound knowledge and appreciation of statistical techniques including their
application;
 Capacity to actively manage a group of Statisticians;
 Working experience with relevant statistical data processing programmes (SPSS,
SAS, STATA and Excel);
