Job Title: Programme Director – SOS Children’s Village Programme, Kakiri, Gulu and Fort Portal (3 positions)
We seek to recruit socially stable, mature persons (male or female) aged 35-45 years to undertake the leadership and management of SOS Children’s Village Programmes at, Gulu, Kakiri and Fort Portal.
The SOS Children’s Villages Programme comprises of a Children’s Village (family based care), Community Development Programme (family strengthening programme), a school or Kindergarten and a Medical centre, working to achieve the highest level of service delivery for the children in our target group.
The Programme Director is a member of the National Management team, is based at the project location and reports to the National Director. His/her main duties include:
• Providing overall strategic leadership and management of programmes at each location.
• Planning and budgeting with practical experience in overseeing a large budget
• Monitoring and evaluation of programmes
• General finance management and administration
• Contribution towards development of effective partnerships and networks with other community based organisations
• Involvement in fund development, building positive relations with the community and or local authorities.
• Staff performance management and general supervision of programme staff
• Policy implementation in line with SOS Children’s Villages principles, mission and vision.
Position Requirements:
• University degree in Social Sciences/ Development Studies/Education. Post graduate qualification in a programme development field will be a strong advantage.
• Should have knowledge/proven experience in a number of the following areas: Monitoring &Evaluation, Project Cycle Management, proposal development, planning & budgeting, education management, HIV/AIDS management, child rights, advocacy, public relations and working experience of relevant government policies.
• At least 4 years progressive work experience with an NGO or other development organization in a senior programme development position.
• Practical experience in planning and implementation of programmes
• Knowledge and practical experience with sustainable community development approaches
• Excellent communication skills( written and verbal)
• He/she must be open-minded and committed to driving change at the programme location.
