Job Title: Chief of party, Uganda

Chemonics International seeks a chief of party for the anticipated USAID-funded Uganda Environmental Management for the Oil Sector project. The project will aim to build the capacity of government ministries, departments, and agencies; academic and research institutions; civil society organizations; the private sector; and other key stakeholders to manage and mitigate environmental and biodiversity impacts from oil and gas development of the Albertine Rift. This position will be based in Uganda. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. Responsibilities include:

    Report to USAID and provide leadership, management, and technical direction of the program
    Ensure an integrated vision among different components and actors, and focus on achieving results
    Interact with senior Uganda government officials, the private sector, local government officials, non-governmental organizations, other donors, and community-based groups

Qualifications:

    Master's degree in international development, energy or environmental policy/management, business, economics, policy, or related field of study
    Minimum of 10 years experience working in extractive industries, energy or environmental policy/management, biodiversity conservation programs, capacity development, or other related development programs
    Minimum of seven years management experience, including direct supervision of professional and support staff
    Record of success demonstrating productive inter-institutional relationships and tangible accomplishments
    Demonstrated leadership, versatility and integrity
    Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills in English
    Previous experience managing programs in Uganda or in sub-Saharan Africa will be considered an asset
