Job Title:    Electrical Engineer

ESTATES AND WORKS DEPARTMENT

Scale:     M7
Role:     Heading the operations at the Electrical Section of Works Estates and Works Department.

Reports: To the Assistant Estates Manager-Maintenance

Qualifications:

1. Formal Education:

(i) Bsc. Electrical Engineering from a recognized University

2. Professional Experience:
Three years working experience in active operation, maintenance and development of electrical infrastructure

Other Qualifications

    He/she should have knowledge of electric energy saving measures
    Good Reporting and Communication skills
    Good working knowledge of computer programs
    Language skills
Duties and Responsibilities:

•    Head operation, maintenance, trouble shooting and development tasks of the electrical section
•    Coordinate the activities of the section to ensure quicker response to queries and timely actions related to power issues
•    Studying the electrical components of buildings and making recommendations on renovations or disposal of components beyond repair,
•    Support the projects team in supervision of works involving electrical installations
•    Ensure a functional and economical street lighting system,
•    Supervise the meter installation, meter reading and billing process of electricity,
•    Curbing illegal electricity connections,
•    Undertake a power loss and waste reduction tasks to save money on utilities
•    Preparation and follow-up of billing and revenue collection from tenants within the University Estate
•    Ensure that all electrical gadgets in University are equipped with safety protection measures,
•    Any other duties as assigned by Director of Estates and Works
Age limit:  Applicants should not exceed 50-years at the time of submission of the    application.
      Tenure of appointment: Permanent Terms
