Job title: Head of Strategy and Business Development
Reporting to the Managing Director.
The role involves driving the strategic and business planning activities of the bank and monitoring bank performance against the plan.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for business development and for delivering sales targets for both Retail and Corporate Banking.
Key Responsibilities
Gather relevant economic and market intelligence data on the banking industry in the region
Lead the preparation of periodic strategic plans that respond to the noted opportunities and challenges and manage the annual business planning process, ensuring that the business plans link into and support the longer term plans.
Monitor departmental performance against the strategic plan, clearly identifying performance gaps and supporting management team members to put in place plans to address gaps.
Work with the marketing teams to identify and segment the target market of the bank and ensure that appropriate products are developed for each of these segments.
Lead the innovation team in designing winning solutions to meet ever growing and changing customer needs in target markets.
Spearhead the bank's regional expansion and new markets, strategic marketing partnerships and banking alliances.
Draw strategies for entry and participation in strategic sectors with strong economic growth prospects.
Develop Business and Sales Strategies to deliver both Retail and Corporate Liability and Asset Targets.
Experience and background needed
A masters degree is a a pre-requisite or a professional qualification e.g. FCIB, ACCA, CFA
At least 10 years experience in a commercial environment with 5 years at a senior mgt level in the banking industry and 3 years as a head of department.
Experience in Strategy Formulation and Implementation is critical
Sales Management experience is essential
Strong networking and negotiation skills
Team management is key to the role and the candidate must have experience of developing team objectives and ensuring team direction
Effective interpersonal communication with proven ability to function well in a multidisciplinary team
