Job title: Legal Officer
Qualifications
i) A Masters degree in law from a recognized university and adiploma in legal practice obtained from the LDC.
ii) Other postgraduate qualifications will be added advantages.
iii) Working experience in higher education or related fields will be an added advantage.
iv) Enrolment as an advocate of High Court of Uganda will be an added advantage
v) A sound knowledge of ICT is a requirement.
Duties and responsibilities will be to:
i) Interpret to management and the Council, the provisions of the
Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act No 7 of 2001
and any other laws that have a bearing on the work of NCHE.
ii) Liaise with the office of the Solicitor General on all legal matters.
iii) Periodically review and propose amendments to statutory instruments of NCHE.
iv) Formulate contract and agreement documents between NCHE and other parties.
v) Receive and evaluate all legal documents submitted to the NCHE.
vi) Develop and write legal memoranda and statements as may be directed by the Executive Director and the Council.
vii) Scrutinize the legal implications of communications that go and come to NCHE
viii) Perform any other tasks assigned by Executive Director.
(i) Remuneration
The National Council for Higher Education pays an attractive consolidated package comparable to those of other statutory agencies.
