Overall Purpose:
Undertakes patrol duties to inspect, check, guard, and protect infra structural facilities, buildings and property against theft, fire, equipment malfunctions, vandalism and illegal entry.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Patrol assigned areas on foot or in a vehicle to detect and prevent signs of intrusion and examines doors windows and gates to ensure they are securely locked.
• Raise an alarm or respond to the alarm and investigate disturbances.
• Check for irregularities, such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes and calls the police or fire
• Departments in cases of fire emergency or presence of unauthorized persons.
• Perform periodic inspections of security systems, emergency call boxes, street lights to ensure to ensure operational use, detect evidence of tampering and reporting malfunctions as required.
• Guard an entrance or exit, checking identification cards, screening individuals and motor vehicles as well as preventing passage of people or prohibited articles from entering or leaving restricted areas.
• Provide information and warning violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.
• Apprehend, detain or evicting intruders, offenders and violators from premises using force when necessary.
• May be required to answer telephone calls to take messages, answer questions, and provide information during non-business hours or when switchboard is closed.
• May be required to circulate among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
• May be required to escort a motor-vehicle and provide security to staff, visitors and prevent incidents of insecurity or theft of valuables.
• May be required to monitor and adjust controls that regulate building systems or research experiments
• Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as property damage/leaking pipes, theft, fire or presence of unauthorized persons or unusual occurrence.
• Uganda Certificate of Education
• Certificate of Good Conduct in Security Operations
• Six (6) months on-the-job training in law enforcement or security work


Key Competencies
• Knowledge of security laws, policies, procedures, and regulations, including investigative methods and techniques such as interviewing, fact-finding, surveillance and undercover work and their application to work problems
• Knowledge of first-aid and familiarity with problems which arise in safeguarding property and the procedures used in dealing with them.
• Ability to secure evidence record witness statements and testify at hearings, arbitrations and courts of law.
• Ability to understand find execute detailed oral and written Instructions and to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
• Ability to work Irregular shifts (night and day) out of doors for extended periods under unfavorable
• Demonstrated high standards of ethical conduct, such as honesty, transparency and integrity.
• Work and communicates with internal and external clients and customers to meet their needs in a polite, courteous, and cooperative manner and to continuously provide high quality service;
• Display a high level of initiative, effort and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently.

Employment Terms for the Position:
Successful candidates will be employed on a four year contract basis renewable on satisfactory performance.
