Job Title: Officer Grants and Contracts (OGC)
Reports to: Manager Grants and Contracts (MSC)
Classification: Fixed-term (contract) full time
General Summary:
The Officer Grants S Contracts (OGC) will support the internal management of funded projects by monitoring and reporting financial and programmatic performance, will monitor financial activity and external reporting, and will ensure compliance to individual sponsor requirements. The OGC will be working under the direct supervision of, and be evaluated by, the MGC.
Educational Requirements:
The OGC should have a bachelors' degree in a relevant field such as Finance, Business or Commerce; Masters Degree will be an added advantage.
Required Experience and Skills:
The candidate should have:
• Some experience in project planning and management.
• Some understanding of budget preparation processes
• Sound organizational skills including ability to track / monitor multiple projects simultaneously
• Good report writing and presentation skills; strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong computer skills in at least Word, PowerPoint, spreadsheets, and database programmes
Summary of Responsibilities:
The OGC will be part of the grants management team at MakCHS. Responsibilities will include, but will not be necessarily limited to, the following:
• Assist in responding to the many ad hoc issues in post-contract management
• Assist in preparation of timely financial reports, as required -ensuring excellence in reporting content and format
• Provide support in tracking and reporting of financial performance of grants
• With MakCHS finance staff, extract information from financial management system, as required; customize reporting format and frequency to meet individual project administrator's needs
• Assist in maintaining a consistent hard copy / electronic filing structure and system for financial information and contracts related to grants
• Support the budget development process for new grants
• Support the MGC in reviewing sub-grantee financial documentation and reporting to ensure compliance.
• Provide inputs relating to grants management for the MakCHS Key Performance Indicators (including the analysis of the gap between projected income and expenditure)
• Support the development and implementation of Grants Management training courses.
• Assist MGC and SMGC in providing technical assistance in Grants Management to other organizations.
• Any other duties specified by the MGC
