POSITION TITLE: Computer Management Assistant

POSITION LOCATION: USAID, EXO OFFICE

HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week

POSITION GRADE: FSN-9 (Ugshs. 45,089,760 to 65,283,978 p.a. inclusive of allowances).

USAID/Uganda is recruiting up to two qualified Ugandans to fill the position of Computer Management Assistant.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
To provide information technology support services to the Mission including the USAID Gulu office. The incumbent is responsible for over 16 servers in 4 different locations with over 150 Desktops, 15 Data Switches, CISCO Routers, Remote Leased Line Connections, and VSAT Equipment. Other basic functions include management of the LAN/WAN, MS Windows 2003 server, MS Exchange 2003 server, Computer Helpdesk, Information Security including data backups, Voice Communication (VHF Radios, satellite phones, residential phones, cell phones & blackberries), Video or power point equipment & Public Address system, and training users on the Mission’s Information Security Policies.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
1. Education Required: A University degree in Computer Science, Data Processing, or its equivalent is required. Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE 2000/2003), or Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA) is preferred.
2. Work Experience: Minimum four years experience in a recognized computer department, familiarity with computer help desk functions and information systems security practices are required.
3. Language Requirement: Must be fluent in English language.
4. Knowledge: Practical knowledge of WAN/LAN communication installations in inter-linking systems is required. Knowledge of Web Page design concept and implementation is needed to set up and maintain the Mission’s Intranet facility. Must be able to understand the types of information being processed in order to ascertain probable errors in data.
5. Skills and Abilities: Professional skills in Managing a Microsoft environment Network. Very good working knowledge of CISCO equipment (routers, switches and firewalls) and VSAT equipment. General skills for use of computers, including knowledge of DOS commands and Good knowledge of Work stations and laptop computers is necessary. Must be skilled in basic interpersonal relations in order to discuss work problems with supported personnel.
