MobiCash (U) Limited, is a universal payments solution that offers anyone with a cell phone (even the oldest of cell phones) a convenient, simple, easy to use mobile payment and banking at low transaction fees regardless of the device or the mobile network operator you use.

In our own on-going growth plan, we would like to hire quality, young, dynamic and aggressive professionals to fill the following position



The Chief Finance Officer will be required to report to the Chief Executive Officer, but will work closely with the Corporate Secretary and other Heads of Departments and may be assigned duties by the Executive Director. The prime responsibility of the role will be to look after the best interest of shareholders and ensure distribution of profits.
You are someone who is responsible for all accounting and financial matters. You must establish company-wide objectives, policies, procedures, processes, programs, and practices to assure the company of a continuously sound financial accounting structure. You enjoy the challenge of a role with room for autonomy and decision making for the administration of all the financing and reporting within the company and you thrive on driving relationship and business development with all financing institutions.
The role is Kampala based but requires minimal travel in and around the greater country of Uganda and command of numerous languages is a pre-requisite.

Overall Duties:
• Directly responsible for accounts function for the company
• Planning and ordering for Raw Material and Consumables.
• Ensure timely production of the- balance sheet by liaising with statutory auditors
• Liaise with commercial banks and other financiers to ensure the terms- are in the best interest of the company and ensure optimum working capital management
• Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• Create, coordinate, and evaluate the financial programs and supporting information systems of the company to include budgeting, tax planning, real estate, and conservation of assets.
• Approve and coordinate changes and improvements in automated financial and management information systems for the company.
• Ensure compliance with local and federal budgetary reporting requirements.
• Oversee the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, and position control documents, department budgets, mass salary updates, ledger, and account maintenance and data entry.
• Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and information reports.
• Develop and implement finance, accounting, billing, and auditing procedures.
• Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards.
• Interact with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.
• Ensure records systems are maintained in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards.
• Develop and direct the implementation of strategic business and/or operational plans, projects, programs, and systems.
• Assist in obtaining the necessary licenses and insurance required to start a business.
• Analyze cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to guide business leaders. Analyze financial statements to pinpoint potential weak areas.
• Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
• Serve on planning and policy-making committees.
• Oversee financial management of foreign operations to include developing financial and budget policies and procedures.


Personal qualities, skills and experience:

Typically a candidate for the role will hold a University degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics and be a Chartered Accountant (CPA, ACCA, CIMA) and is most likely to be expected to be able to demonstrate progress and achievement in their career to date. Most recently, they will have worked in a financial management role within a similar business where they will have worked for a minimum of 7 years.

You will be proficient with various accounting software including SunSystems, Tally, QuickBooks and take a pro-active role in managing MobiCash’s Cash Flow position, understand the sources and uses of cash, and maintain the integrity of funds, securities and other valuable documents. You CFO must understand all of the company’s liabilities understand the company business model for generating customer value and translate the operational metrics into measures for performance. You will also supervise the accounting, finance, and IT functions.

You must be a confident negotiator with the ability to ‘close the deal’ with hands on problem-solving experience, with the ability to generate ideas and practical solutions. You will have a positive and determined approach to analyzing new business opportunities; Ability to cope with competing demands and to prioritize tasks; Strong communication skills in all forms including written, oral, email, telephone, and presentation; Excellent organizational and time management skills; the candidate must possess excellent needs analysis skills, A positive attitude to dealing with people, and be capable of working independently, and having responsibility as an individual

Fluency in written and oral English is a pre-requisite, and all responses should be submitted in English.
