JOB TITLE: Communication and Public Relations Assistant

Reports To: Communication & Public Relations Specialist
Duty Station: Kampala
Job Purpose:
To participate in the development, implementation, and identification of strategies for effective communication and public Relations for the IRCU secretariat.
Key results areas:
* Maintain and provide access to IRCU Resource library in line with the IRCU communication policies and procedures
* Participate in developing, maintenance and implementation of communication & Public Relations systems within and outside IRCU in line with the organization policies and procedures
* Document and disseminate information useful to the organization in line with the IRCU Strategy
* Collect and procure relevant public information and educational materials for display in the resourcecentre.
* Support in providing public relations linkages for the organization in line with instructions from the immediate supervisor.
* Participate in the documentation of experiences within IRCU in line with the strategy and IRCU communication guidelines/policy
* Attend to all the IRCU visitors and ensure that relevant information is issued to them.
* Participate in the preparation of marketing campaigns, public relations programs, special events, fund raising efforts and arrange press conferences whenever required.
Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Mass communication, Library Science or any other relevant discipline
* Graphic design and web designing is an added advantage
* Accreditation to any communication & public relations bodies shall be regarded as added advantage.
* Minimum of two years’ experience in Communication and public relations in a service delivery organization.
* Experience in social marketing with evidenced/recorded experience
Person Specifications
* Substantive knowledge of current practices of communication and ICTs.
* Strong organization and management skills and the ability to work as a team and respond to deadlines.
* Strong research and analytical skills.
* Very strong reporting /writing skills
* Complex Problem solving, decision making and Judgment
* Critical Thinking,
Coordination and Reading Comprehension
