U.S. CITIZEN ELIGIBLE FAMILY MEMBERS, AS DEFINED BELOW OF U.S. GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES ASSIGNED TO THE MISSION UNDER THE CHIEF OF MISSION AUTHORITY ARE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION. Basic Function of Position Coordinate with Diplomatic Pouch and Mail (DPM) and GSO shipping representatives to ensure that all mail received through the pouch system from Washington DC to the airport is delivered to the embassy safely and expeditiously. Ensure that distribution of mail is sorted and delivered to receiving agencies (DAO, RAO, Peace Corps, USAID and CDC/NIH) in a timely manner as stated in the ICASS standards. Track and report any missing/delayed pouches. Mailroom manager is also responsible for assisting in the sorting of all inbound “letter” mail received via the pouch. Processing of all courier invoices and assisting with all other mailroom responsibilities when necessary. The job also entails coordinating with Diplomatic Pouch and Mail and making the necessary arrangements with GSO shipping for the delivery and securing of Classified Pouch. The individual must also be able and willing to be an escort for technicians who need access to controlled access areas. Education required: Two years of post secondary school education is required. Work Experience required: Two years prior work experience in an environment similar to the U.S. Embassy is required. Language required: Level IV (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing English is required. Knowledge required: Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (including Micro-soft Word, Excel, Access), general office management and administrative procedures is required. Valid security Clearance is required. Skills and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, high motivation and ability to work independently; ability to understand and interpret basic government regulations and ability to work with little or no supervision and under pressure are required. Selection Process After an initial application screening, applicants will be invited to a testing process that may include a written examination and oral interviews. The selected candidate must pass pre-employment medical and security investigations before beginning work. The initial appointment period is one year, subject to renewal. Normally, candidates for employment are hired at the first step of the designated pay grade. In some instances, candidates may be hired at a higher step when exceptional qualifications or previous governmental service and pay level so warrant. The Human Resources Officer will make the decision with the concurrence of the employing section.
