The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is a neutral and independent international humanitarian organisation, which assists and protects victims of armed conflicts and other situations of violence. The ICRC has an immediate opening for the following position
Title: Tracing Field Officer (M/F)
Duty Stations: Kampala with regular field trips in the country
Main responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the ICRC Protection Assistant, ensure the adequate delivery of tracing services to the refugee communities and the Ugandan population, in partnership with the Uganda Red Cross Society by:
Monitoring the exchange of Red Cross Messages between refugees and their families, as well as detainees and their families;
Facilitating the re-establishment and maintaining of family links through phone calls for refugees;
Registering and following-up the Unaccompanied Minors in the refugee communities, and whenever possible, organizing family reunifications of Unaccompanied Minors with their families;
Providing constant support to the volunteers and staff members of the Ugandan Red Cross Society;
Networking with relevant local/regional authorities and humanitarian actors.
Requirement:
Minimum required knowledge and experience:
University degree
Minimum 3 years work experience in a similar field
Excellent knowledge of English, both written and spoken; Kinyarwanda, Swahili and French would be an important asset
Good computer skills
Profile:

Sense of responsibility and ability to take initiative and to work independently
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Flexibility and resistance to stress
Ability to represent the ICRC during meetings with external stakeholders (local/regional authorities; humanitarian actors)
Good reporting skills
Be able to travel within Uganda on a regular basis for prolonged periods up to two weeks.
