Expert, Rural Development in Moroto, Uganda

The post is to be filled as soon as possible, and is scheduled to end on 31/12/2013. The office is located in Moroto, Uganda. The project locations are situated in Karamoja.

Objectives and responsibilities of the position

In Uganda, Welthungerhilfe is implementing a BMZ-financed project in the area of "Food Security and Peacekeeping". The objective of this position is to improve food security and reduce the violent conflicts in the Karamoja region. As the Expert for Rural Development, you are responsible for implementing and supervising all of the agricultural, technical and social project activities in the project region.

Your most important duties are as follows:

 Support the project manager with the planning, implementation and controlling of the projects  Represent Welthungerhilfe to other governmental and international actors in consultation with the project manager  Setting up a new office  Search, selection and training of new project personnel  Support the project manager with the preparation of narrative reports

Your qualifications will include:

 A university or polytechnic degree in the area of tropical agriculture (semi-arid regions), water construction, local community development or a similar education  Several years of experience in implementing projects of international (aid) organisa-tions, preferably in this region  Coordination and organisational skills - even under a high workload and difficult local conditions  Ability to communicate and work in a team  Good command of English
